About This RoleThe Sr Manager, Data Center Cost Optimization plays a critical leadership role in driving cost excellence across new product introduction programs. This position partners with engineering, supply chain, operations, and program management teams to influence product cost structure, guide financial decisions, and ensure cost targets are achieved from concept through launch. The ideal candidate combines deep analytical capability with strong executive communication skills, shifting seamlessly between detailed cost modeling and high-level strategic storytelling.
Job DescriptionNew Product Introduction - Finance Leadership- Serve as the primary finance partner for NPI programs, owning product cost models, cost targets, and financial risk assessments.
- Lead cost reviews throughout the product lifecycle, ensuring alignment with engineering, supply chain, and operations.
- Evaluate design alternatives, manufacturing strategies, and sourcing decisions to optimize cost, quality, and schedule.
Project & Program Management- Manage cross-functional cost initiatives, driving accountability and ensuring timely delivery of financial milestones.
- Coordinate with program managers to integrate financial insights into program schedules, decision gates, and executive reviews.
- Identify risks and opportunities early, proposing mitigation strategies and influencing program direction.
Cost & Variance Analysis- Develop and maintain detailed cost models, including BOM analysis, labor and overhead modeling, and scenario planning.
- Perform variance analysis across material, labor, and manufacturing costs; identify root causes and drive corrective actions.
- Monitor cost performance against targets and forecast impacts to product margins and financial plans.
Cross-Functional Collaboration- Partner with engineering to evaluate design-for-cost opportunities and influence technical decisions.
- Work with supply chain to assess supplier quotes, negotiate cost reductions, and validate sourcing strategies.
- Collaborate with operations to understand manufacturing processes, yield impacts, and cost-to-serve drivers.
FP&A Reporting, Investment Management & Productivity Analysis- Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual FP&A planning and reporting cycles, including financial forecasts, budget updates, and performance reviews.
- Manage investment portfolios related to new product development, tracking capital and expense spending, financial benefits, and alignment with strategic priorities.
- Prepare closing presentations that synthesize cost performance, investment status, and financial risks for senior leadership.
- Conduct productivity and efficiency analyses to identify structural cost improvements, operational bottlenecks, and long-term savings opportunities.
- Partner with business leaders to translate financial insights into actionable plans that improve margins and resource allocation.
Executive Communication & Storytelling- Present complex financial analyses to senior executives, adapting messaging for technical, operational, and business audiences.
- Create concise, high-impact executive summaries that distill detailed analysis into clear recommendations.
- Influence leadership decisions through data-driven insights and strategic framing
Required Qualifications- Bachelors Degree
- 7+ years of experience in product cost management, FP&A, manufacturing finance, engineering finance, supply chain, or program management
- Bilingual in English and Spanish
Preferred Qualifications- Masters Degree
- Strong understanding of cost accounting, manufacturing processes, and supply chain dynamics
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and manage complex projects
- Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to pivot between deep-dive analysis and high-level executive narratives
- Advanced proficiency in financial modeling, scenario analysis, and data visualization tools
Pay RangeThe annual salary for this position is between $117,500.00 - $234,500.00 annually. Factors which may affect pay within this range include, but are not limited to, skills, education, experience, and other unique qualifications of the successful candidate.
Other CompensationThis position is entitled to short-term cash incentives, subject to plan requirements.
