Role Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and strategic Sr. Manager of Business Continuity to lead McKesson PSaS business unit continuity efforts working collaboratively to define business continuity and document business impacts and recovery strategies. The focus of the Sr. Manager will be both strategic, leading business continuity programs and practices, as well as tactical, working on the ground implementation. The Sr. Manager will be responsible for driving and deliver Business Continuity commitment, support, ownership, accountability and results within the business unit. Sr. Manager will also aid and liaise with Global Security, Enterprise Risk Management, Real Estate. Environmental Health & Safety, Customer requirements, and other duties as assigned. The Sr. Manager will report directly to the Senior Director of Business Continuity for McKesson PSaS and have a dotted line reporting relationship to internal business unit executive leadership.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead a coordinated business unit continuity program in alignment with continuity best practices. Support the McKesson established framework and lead and support the completion of continuity plans and continuous cycle of update, validation, and corrective action. Remain well-informed of and implement best practices and industry wide standards wherever practical to support and improve the program.
  • Identify key components that serve as the basis for continuity plans and programs. Implement standard Risk Assessment, Business Impact Analysis, and other Business Continuity tools, capabilities and education. Collaborate with Information Technology Services to ensure consensus on critical functions and how they will be supported during a disruption on behalf of the business unit.
  • Drives and delivers effective Business Continuity strategies to support and, in time of disaster, assist to recover McKesson PSaS and business unit critical business functions.
  • Coordinate with and support Emergency Management with preparation for crisis and support crisis response efforts within both the business unit and PSaS organization.
  • Conduct risk assessments and vulnerability analyses to identify potential threats and their impact on business unit operations.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with local, state and federal emergency services and agencies in coordination with McKesson PSaS resources.
  • Ensure all Business Continuity and site Emergency Management plans and activities comply with healthcare regulations and accreditation standards.
  • Within the EOC/ICS structure, manage the allocation and deployment of resources, including personnel, equipment, and facilities, during emergencies.
  • Where needed, ensure that all preferred asset deployment and response contracts are in place to support organizational response needs, leveraging any McKesson MSAs or local contracts established. This includes managing business unit contract renewals, liaising with legal to ensure their updated versioning.
  • For the purposes of community stakeholder engagement, build and maintain strong strategic relationships with community organizations, government agencies and other stakeholders.
  • Build and foster internal business unit relationships interdepartmentally to support a culture of Business Continuity across the organization.
  • Co facilitates, along with department leads or business unit leadership, at least one enterprise level tabletop exercises every other year and at least 2 departmental tabletop exercises at departmental level. To include hotwash reports to McKesson PSaS leadership, action plans and plan updates based on lessons learned within 90 days of exercise.
  • Create, assist, maintain, monitor, and validate Business Continuity Plans within the business continuity tracking tool (Riskonnect today); coordinate with units/oversee writing of Business Continuity Plans across PSaS.
  • Manage, for the business unit, the continuous and regular validation and testing of documented Business Continuity plans; create scenarios to re-establish operations from various types of business disruptions.
  • Conduct significant internal and external coordination with key partners, across business units, and with key external partners ensuring plans are updated and available to management teams in the event of a disruption.
  • Attend professional meetings and participate in training or other educational offerings to update professional knowledge regarding new developments and technologies related to disaster recovery and business continuity.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Minimum Requirement

Degree or equivalent experience. Typically requires 7+ years of professional experience.

Critical Skills

7+ years of experience in business continuity, risk management, or emergency management.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree, a certification in Project Management (PMP), Emergency Management from FEMA or similar agency/authority, Certified Business Continuity Professional (CBCP) or other related industry certification.
  • Additional leadership experience in Business Continuity, Emergency Management, Healthcare, OSHA/Joint Commission, or State/Federal emergency planning can be considered in lieu of board certification.


Working Conditions
  • Work environment may involve some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions; work may involve moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.
  • Subject to respond to varying and unpredictable situations.
  • Accountable to respond to emergency situations at possibly irregular hours.
  • Travel requirements could be up to 50% routinely and/or for extended periods of time if deployments are required in isolated incident responses.


This position offers the possibility of a hybrid work arrangement based on recent updates to our in-office/work-from-home model. If located in DFW area, the selected candidate may be expected to work on-site at our Las Colinas office a minimum of two (2) days per week, with the remaining days worked remotely. Specific in-office days may be designated according to team needs and business priorities.
