Able to lift 40 lbs. without assistance, Laboratory Setting, Some degree of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) required (safety glasses, gowning, gloves, lab coat, ear plugs etc.), Will work with hazardous/toxic materials

Location: On-site Plainville, MA. Relocation assistance is NOT provided.

How Will You Make an Impact?

The Sr. Manager, Bioprocess Design Center (BDC) will lead the Plainville Bioprocess Design Center as a customer-facing technical and service execution platform. This role provides technical, operational, and people leadership, combining hands-on bioprocessing expertise with laboratory oversight, project management, team development, and direct customer engagement.

The Sr. Manager will establish priorities, coordinate resources, manage project execution, and ensure laboratory activities are performed safely, efficiently, and in alignment with business and customer objectives. The role will lead and mentor engineers, scientists, technicians, and other technical staff while fostering a collaborative, accountable, and customer-focused culture.

Operating in a highly matrixed environment, this leader will integrate technical innovations with commercial execution and lead BDC-enabled services, including consultative engagements, demonstrations, workflow validation, and technical execution to accelerate customer adoption and product pull-through.

A key responsibility is engaging customers and partners to understand their processes, challenges, and technical requirements and translate those needs into practical solutions and commercial opportunities. The Sr. Manager will host laboratory visits, lead technical discussions and demonstrations, and effectively communicate the value of single-use technologies and bioprocessing capabilities.

The successful candidate will be a confident, approachable technical leader with strong communication and presentation skills who can effectively engage customers, senior leaders, scientists, engineers, and cross-functional teams. This individual will balance strategic leadership with hands-on execution while promoting technical excellence, safety, innovation, accountability, customer focus, and employee development.

What Will You Do?

1. Commercial Enablement & Business Outcomes:
  • Serve as the US BDC partner to the commercial team, providing scientific credibility, hands-on demonstrations, and validation data required to win complex, high-value sales.
  • Translate customer problem statements, process challenges, technical constraints, and adoption barriers into clearly scoped BDC engagements with defined objectives, success criteria, feasibility considerations, and expected outcomes.
  • Manage the US BDC to create compelling, evidence-based showcases of products, workflow solutions, and services tailored precisely to customer use cases and strategic pain points.

2. Service Execution & Product Adoption:
  • Ensure the on-time delivery and technical excellence of customer-facing service projects originating within or supported by the Plainville BDC.
  • Leverage BDC-enabled service engagements to accelerate customer adoption, demonstrate solution value, and drive pull-through to ongoing product utilization.
  • Champion technical transfer, process optimization, and complex consulting services to address strategic bioprocess needs.
  • Support cost assessment, ROI modeling, and the business justification for deployed solutions, clearly demonstrating how services enable broader technology adoption.

3. Innovation Integration & Feedback:
  • Drive the integration of divisional products, group-level workflow solutions, and BDC-enabled services into coherent, customer-relevant bioprocess offerings.
  • Support product management, R&D, services, and Innovation teams to ensure real-world customer and process insights inform future development priorities.
  • Support global roadmap and strategic planning within the BDC network.


How Will You Get Here?
  • Advanced Degree plus 6 years of experience, or Bachelor's Degree plus 8 years of experience leading strategic business planning, product management, or business development initiatives
  • Preferred Fields of Study: Engineering, Business, or related technical field
  • Experience with single-use technologies used in biopharmaceutical or bioprocessing applications, including familiarity with areas such as fluid management, tubing, connectors, bioprocess containers, mixing, filtration, sampling, sensors, or upstream/downstream processing equipment.
  • Working knowledge of bioprocessing workflows and laboratory environments, with an understanding of how single-use technologies are integrated into biopharmaceutical development and manufacturing processes.
  • 5-7 years of technical or people-management experience with demonstrated success leading, coaching, developing, and motivating engineers, scientists, technicians, or other technical professionals.
  • Demonstrated experience providing day-to-day laboratory leadership and oversight, including work prioritization, resource planning, equipment and workspace coordination, laboratory safety, documentation, and execution of testing and development activities.
  • Strong customer-facing skills with experience hosting customers, leading laboratory or product demonstrations, conducting technical discussions, and presenting technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Excellent verbal communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills, with the confidence and professionalism to engage effectively with customers, external partners, senior leadership, and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Ability to balance strategic leadership with hands-on laboratory and project execution, stepping into technical details when necessary while maintaining ownership of broader team and organizational objectives.
  • Proven track record in project management and cross-functional leadership

Compensation and Benefits
The salary range estimated for this position based in Massachusetts is $150,000.00-$175,000.00.
