Job Description:-
Key Responsibilities
1. Mainframe Rehosting & Modernization
• Lead mainframe rehosting initiatives using:
o Raincode (Mandatory)
o Micro Focus (Mandatory)
• Define and execute:
o Rehosting (Lift & Shift) strategies
o Replatforming and selective refactoring approaches
• Drive mainframe transformation programs (extremely good to have)
• Develop modernization roadmaps, timelines, and execution plans
2. Hands-On Application Transformation
• Perform deep technical work on legacy systems built with:
o COBOL (Mandatory)
o PL1 (Mandatory)
o Assembler (Mandatory)
o CICS (Mandatory)
• Analyze and modernize:
o JCL, IMS, DB2, VSAM-based applications
• Good to have: Eztrieve
• Execute:
o Code remediation
o Conversion val idation
o Runtime behavior fixes
3. Database Migration & Data Transformation
• Lead DB2 SQL Server migration (Mandatory)
• Define:
o Data mapping and transformation strategies
o Reconciliation and validation processes
• Ensure:
o Data integrity
o Performance optimization
o Minimal downtime during cutover
4. Azure Cloud Enablement
• Design and implement Azure-based solutions:
o Compute (VMs, rehosted workloads)
o Networking (VNETs, hybrid connectivity)
o Storage
o Security (RBAC, Key Vault)
• Enable integration between:
o Rehosted applications
o Modern cloud services and APIs
5. Performance & Optimization
• Ensure post-migration:
o Performance parity or improvement vs. mainframe
o High availability and disaster recovery
• Optimize:
o Batch jobs and scheduling
o Online transaction processing systems
6. Migration Delivery & Execution
• Work closely with:
o Application teams
o Cloud engineers
o DevOps and QA teams
o Business stakeholders
• Lead:
o Migration planning
o Execution
o Testing and validation
o Cutover and go-live
7. Governance, Risk & Best Practices
• Define and enforce:
o Migration standards and frameworks
o Architecture best practices
• Identify:
o R isks and dependencies
• Implement mitigation strategies across the migration lifecycle
8. Testing & Post-Migration Support
• Drive:
o Functional, integration, and performance testing
• Support:
o Cutover execution
o Hypercare and stabilization
• Conduct:
o Post-migration optimization and tuning
9. Mentorship & Technical Leadership
• Provide hands-on leadership and guidance to engineering teams
• Mentor developers on:
o Mainframe modernization techniques
o Rehosting tools and cloud adoption strategies
Required Skills & Qualifications
Mainframe Technologies (Mandatory)
• Strong hands-on experience with:
o COBOL
o PL1
o Assembler
o CICS
• Strong knowledge of:
o JCL, IMS, DB2, VSAM
o Batch and online processing systems
Rehosting & Modernization (Mandatory)
• Hands-on experience with:
