Full Job Description
Purpose of Role

The Senior Lead, Women's & Apparel Design Exploration is responsible for identifying future growth opportunities and creating exploratory design work that supports Women's and Apparel across Under Armour. Reporting to the Director, Exploratory Design, this role translates consumer behavior, cultural shifts, athlete needs, emerging technologies, marketplace dynamics, and design trends into actionable product opportunities. This teammate is a creator first, developing concepts, inspiration, visual assets, and exploratory product ideas that help Product Creation teams uncover unmet needs, challenge convention, and shape future product direction. The role also maintains a close partnership with Women's leadership through a dotted-line relationship to ensure exploration priorities remain aligned with long-term Women's business objectives and growth opportunities.

Your Impact

  • Identify emerging consumer shifts, athlete needs, cultural movements, and opportunity spaces across Women's and Apparel, translating insights into concepts, inspiration, and actionable product direction.
  • Explore new forms, materials, constructions, aesthetics, and product opportunities that strengthen Under Armour's relevance and competitive position with key consumers.
  • Develop concepts, visualizations, exploratory prototypes, design assets, inspiration platforms, and opportunity narratives that help teams evaluate and pursue new product possibilities.
  • Partner closely with Women's, Apparel Design, Product Management, Merchandising, Innovation, Development, Testing, strategic factory, manufacturing, supply chain, materials, and technology partners to connect exploration to category priorities and business outcomes.
  • Support Greenhouse and exploratory initiatives by contributing design concepts, visual assets, and opportunity platforms that help move ideas through exploration, incubation, and potential commercialization.
  • Leverage AI-enabled design tools, visualization technologies, and emerging creative methods to accelerate concept generation, design iteration, and creative exploration.
  • Help build Design Exploration as a strategic capability within Product Creation by sharing insights, fostering curiosity and experimentation, and expanding adoption of future-focused design methodologies.


Qualifications

  • Experience in Apparel Design, Women's Design, Innovation, Concept Design, Product Creation, or a related creative product environment.
  • Deep understanding of Women's consumers, apparel trends, cultural influences, athlete needs, marketplace dynamics, and product opportunities.
  • Strong concept development, visualization, storytelling, creative judgment, and product sensibility.
  • Ability to translate consumer, cultural, and business insights into compelling design opportunities and tangible product possibilities.
  • Experience using AI-enabled design tools, visualization platforms, and emerging creative technologies to support design exploration and iteration.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and influence skills, with the ability to build alignment across cross-functional partners and teams with shared or competing priorities.
  • Ability to balance future-focused exploration with consumer relevance, athlete credibility, and commercial opportunity.


Workplace Location

  • Location: This individual must reside within commuting distance from our Baltimore, MD (HQ) office.
  • Work Schedule: This role follows a hybrid work schedule, requiring 4 days in-office per week.
  • Travel: As needed to support product creation, partner engagement, and exploratory development.

Base Compensation

$110,000.00-$150,000.00 USD

Most new hires fall within this range and have the opportunity to earn more over time. Initial placement within the salary range, however, is based on an individual's relevant knowledge, skills and experience for the position.
