About you and this role

Dow has exciting opportunities for an Azure Platform Engineer (Sr. IT Analyst) and Software Engineer (Sr. IT Analyst) located in Midland, MI or Houston, TX.

You will:
  • Make significant technical contributions to critical data initiatives within our team at Dow.
  • Be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining data platforms and analytics solutions on the Azure cloud platform to enable business objectives and accelerate Dow's digital transformation.
  • Focus on developing scalable and efficient data processing pipelines, implementing data integration and transformation processes, and ensuring the availability, security, and performance of data and analytics solutions.
  • You will be working with a cross-functional team that includes Data Engineers, Analytics Engineers, and Machine Learning Engineers while using:
    • Azure DevOps
    • PowerShell
    • Python
    • Azure Cloud
    • Azure Databricks
  • You will use expanded conceptual and practical knowledge, own a small portfolio of solutions and systems (applications) and manage a lifecycle - analysis, design, implementation/adoption, optimization, and end-of-life retirement of digital solutions, delivering advanced functional and business capabilities. Work hand-in-hand with a multi-disciplinary IT expert team (analysts/designers/developers/support) to deliver innovative digital solutions. Gather and analyze data to perform a functional and technical requirements analysis - with emphasis on experience, simplification, automation, efficiency, reliability. Oversee the development, optimization, implementation and adoption of solutions leveraging best-in-class mobile, web, desktop, cloud technologies. Identifies opportunities for innovating with digital capabilities aiming to accelerate Dow's digital transformation.


Responsibilities
  • Designs, implements, and maintains scalable and reliable Azure cloud infrastructure to support our modern data platform
  • Collaborates with a diverse team to build and enhance our data platform to enable data collection, processing, access, usability, and monitoring
  • Deploys Azure services using Infrastructure as Code and Azure DevOps
  • Develops and deploys scalable and efficient data processing pipelines using Azure Data Factory and Azure Databricks
  • Works with cross-functional teams to develop and implement cloud-based solutions in the Application Development Lifecycle (Development / Test / Production)
  • Ensures maintenance of Infrastructure as Code libraries
  • Continuously explores and adopts new technologies and best practices to improve our data infrastructure
  • Provides technical expertise and guidance to team members and stakeholders
  • Ensures Change Management and Configuration Management standards are implemented and executed
  • Ensures technical, architecture, and application designs aligns to company IT architecture and security standards
  • Requirements Analysis - Understands key business drivers in order to explore, analyze, and map business and function requirements.
  • Experience Mapping - Maps user journeys, user experience, user stories (user features) to facilitate employee experience (EX) / customer experience (CX) transformation.
  • IT Solution/Application/System - drives the full solution lifecycle, including functional / technical design - solution architecture, buy vs make decisions - integration of third-party off-the-shelf software, develops / integrates / tests / builds solutions - with ability to operate in both waterfall and agile environment, ensures compliance to corporate standards, architecture guidelines, and information security policies
  • Adoption - Supports implementation and user adoption
  • Support - With guidance selects and defines supplier and team support models
  • Performance - Defines controls, measures and KPIs for solution performance and reliability
  • End-to-End Integration - Coordinates with other Business Process Managers and Solutions Managers for end-to-end process optimization and integration
  • Roadmaps - Defines a solution(s) portfolio improvement and innovation roadmap with proper sequencing and prioritization of projects; Help assess resource, technology, investment needed in delivering against the roadmap
  • Team Management - Assist Sr. Solution Manager with workload analysis for team to ensure proper resource alignment for capacity planning


Core Technical Expertise
  • DevOps or DevSecOps: Experience building and deploying cloud solutions that adhere to the core principles of DevOps or DevSecOps processes and tools
  • Concepts, how to, and best practices, along with hands on knowledge and experience in:
  • DevOps practices and tools, understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC), and familiarity with cloud services and infrastructure
  • Infrastructure as Code (e.g. Bicep, Terraform, ARM)
  • Strong knowledge of Azure cloud services and architecture
  • General understanding of digital industry trends including Cloud/SaaS, Analytics, Social, and Security/Risk Management, and Internet of Things
  • Databricks Platform Proficiency, including its components like Databricks SQL, Delta Live Tables, Databricks Repos, and Task Orchestration
  • Cloud Orchestration: Expertise in using Azure Data Factory (ADF), Databricks Workflows, or equivalent tools (e.g., Airflow) for complex dependency management, error handling, and end-to-end pipeline orchestration.
  • Agility: Demonstrated knowledge and experience in Agile software development methodologies and work processes, especially Scrum


Engineering Mindset and Professional Growth
  • Technical Design Contribution: Ability to rapidly synthesize information and contribute clear, well-documented technical specifications and architectural diagrams to the design process.
  • Feature Ownership: Demonstrated history of taking ownership of complex features and modules within larger projects, driving them to completion, and managing technical dependencies autonomously.
  • Pragmatism and Initiative: A strong bias for action, coupled with a pragmatic approach to delivering stable, maintainable, and cost-effective solutions.
  • Communication & Influence: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical designs to both engineering peers and senior stakeholders, effectively influencing technical decisions.


Preferred Skills
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform, Bicep, ARM templates) and DevOps pipelines.
  • Experience with cloud cost management principles related to compute (Databricks) and storage (ADLS).
  • Experience with design and configuration of SAP ERP, SAP APO, and/or OMP technology platforms.
  • Proficiency in system integrations, data management, and troubleshooting complex application issues.
  • Azure DevOps pipelines, source code control and release management

  • Integration Services: The ability to design, configure, and support data and application integrations across systems (e.g., SAP, Azure, APIs). This includes understanding ETL processes, protocols (REST/SOAP), authentication methods, and integration platforms.
  • Proactive Problem Solving: Identifying issues before they escalate, analyzing root causes, and applying established procedures to resolve standard technical and process-related problems.
  • Business Processes: Understanding how business functions operate and how technology enables or improves them. This includes partnering with analysts, developers, and business stakeholders to ensure solutions align with functional needs.
  • Technical Support / Troubleshooting: The ability to diagnose, investigate, and resolve issues in applications, systems, integrations, or infrastructure-especially in cloud, SAP, Windows/Linux, or DevSecOps environments.
  • Detail-Oriented Documentation: Creating accurate, complete technical documentation-including integration specifications, solution designs, process flows, and system configurations-ensuring clarity and adherence to architecture and compliance standards.


Required Qualifications
  • A minimum of a bachelor's degree or relevant military experience at or above a U.S. E5 ranking or Canadian Petty Officer 2nd Class or Sergeant OR 5 years of relevant experience in lieu of a Bachelor's degree.
  • Minimum of 2 years of professional relevant experience in Cloud Platform Engineering, Software Engineering, or a closely related field.
  • A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.
