Duties & Responsibilities- Development and maintenance of a strong, dedicated supply base as a result of consistent monitoring of vendor activities, via written or interpersonal communication.
- Editing of purchase requisitions, awarding of purchase orders, and follow up in purchase order maintenance.
- Provides an interface between suppliers and internal departments to ensure conformance to requirements.
- Monitor inventory to ensure timely deliveries of all purchased items in accordance with production forecasts.
- Researches alternate sources of supply to maintain competitive atmosphere regarding quality/pricing.
- Negotiate costs and participate in cost savings projects.
- Participates in value analysis projects as defined in departmental objectives.
- Negotiate settlements regarding off quality materials, equipment, or services, as well as claims against vendors.
- Partner with corporate logistics teams to ensure cost effective means of transportation are utilized.
Preferred Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Business or related field is required
- Minimum 5 years' experience purchasing is preferred
- Experienced in sourcing commodities, negotiating purchase orders, and knowledgeable in manufacturing processes
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills
- Strong ability to multi-task and manage several concurrent projects
