Please review the job details below.Intuitive Machines - West is seeking an experienced Flight Software Verification & Validation (V&V) Engineer to join our team in the Bay Area in our Palo Alto, CA or San Jose, CA office. This role will be critical in ensuring the quality, reliability, and safety of flight software systems for our spacecraft missions.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and execute comprehensive test plans for flight software verification
- Create detailed test procedures and test cases based on software requirements
- Perform integration, and system-level testing
- Support hardware-software integration activities
- Participate in software reviews and requirement walkthroughs
- Document test results and maintain traceability matrices
- Identify, document, and track software defects through resolution
- Collaborate with flight software development teams
- Support mission-critical testing activities and launch campaigns
Minimum Requirements:- Must be a US Citizen or permanent resident
- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in software verification and validation
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related technical field, four additional years of experience may be substituted for a degree
- Experience in test planning, test case development, and test execution
- Experience with requirements traceability and verification matrices
- Proficiency with scripting languages (Python, Bash, etc.) for test automation
- Familiarity with version control systems (Git, SVN, etc.)
- Knowledge of software V&V methodologies and best practices
- Ability to work extended hours as needed to support mission schedules
Preferred Qualifications- Experience with satellite or spacecraft flight software systems
- Demonstrated experience with embedded systems testing
- Experience with continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines
- Familiarity with formal verification methods
- Background in fault injection and failure mode testing
- Experience with communication protocols (SpaceWire, CAN, MIL-STD-1553, etc.)
- Understanding of real-time operating systems (RTOS)
- Experience with hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) and software-in-the-loop (SIL) testing
- Familiarity with defect tracking and test management tools
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
For candidates with 8 years of experience, the salary range for CA is $143,000-$190,000-$238,000

Candidates with the minimum necessary experience, qualifications, knowledge, and skillsets for the position should not expect to receive the upper end of the pay range.
• The base pay for this position within California is: $117,000.00 - $195,000.00 annually.
For all other states, we use geographic cost of labor as an input to develop market-driven ranges for our roles, and as such, each location where we hire may have a different range.
