Sr. Fire Alarm Technician

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Senior Fire Alarm Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will specialize in the programming, troubleshooting, maintenance, and servicing of large-scale commercial fire alarm systems, including those in high-rise buildings. The role requires advanced technical expertise in fire alarm system functionality, proficiency with building control systems, and a strong commitment to ensuring compliance with safety regulations and industry standards. This position demands exceptional problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Responsibilities

Programming and Configuration:
• Program, configure, and test complex fire alarm systems for commercial and high-rise buildings.
• Customize fire alarm software to meet specific building requirements and integrate with other building control systems (e.g., Smoke Control, access control, and BMS).
• Perform system upgrades and software optimizations.

Troubleshooting and Repair:
• Diagnose and resolve issues with large-scale fire alarm systems, including hardware, wiring, and software malfunctions.
• Conduct root cause analysis for system failures and implement corrective actions.
• Respond to emergency service calls to ensure rapid restoration of fire alarm functionality.

Installation and Commissioning:
• Commission fire alarm systems in commercial and high-rise properties, ensuring compliance with blueprints, specifications, and local codes.
• Functional testing and verification of system performance.
• Coordinate with contractors, engineers, and building management to ensure seamless integration.

Compliance and Safety:
• Ensure all work adheres to NFPA 72, local fire codes, and other relevant regulations.
• Stay updated on industry standards, building codes, and technological advancements in fire alarm systems.
• Train junior technicians and clients on system operation and safety protocols.

Collaboration:
• Work closely with building management, electrical contractors, and other stakeholders to integrate fire alarm systems with building controls.
• Provide technical expertise during project planning and system design phases.
• Mentor and guide junior technicians to develop their skills in fire alarm systems.

Qualifications

Education and Certifications:
• High school diploma or equivalent; associate's or bachelor's degree in electronics, electrical engineering, or related field is a plus.
• Manufacturer certifications (e.g., Notifier, Siemens, Honeywell, Edwards) are a plus.
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record.

Experience:
• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a fire alarm technician, with at least 2 years working on large-scale commercial or high-rise fire alarm systems.
• Proven expertise in programming and troubleshooting advanced fire alarm systems (e.g., addressable, networked, and voice evacuation systems).
• Hands-on experience with building control systems (BMS, Smoke Control, access control) and their integration with fire alarm systems.

Technical Skills:
• Proficiency in fire alarm system programming software and diagnostic tools.
• Strong understanding of electrical systems, low-voltage wiring, and network communication protocols.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
• Familiarity with Fire alarm codes

Soft Skills:

Pay is $65 - $76/hour with a sign on bonus based on experience
