Full Job Description
Northmarq is seeking a Senior Financial Reporting Analyst to join the Finance & Accounting department in its Bloomington, MN headquarters office who will be responsible for the timely preparation of the monthly financial statements and various other accounting and reporting functions. The ideal candidate will possess advanced Excel skills, strong analytical capabilities, and a passion for leveraging technology and process improvements to enhance the efficiency, accuracy, and effectiveness of financial reporting. Responsibilities may expand in line with department goals and objectives.

Specific Responsibilities
  • Lead preparation of financial reports, including but not limited to internal monthly financial statements, internal reporting for management, and external reporting to various sources
  • Prepare all internal financial reporting packages, including performing financial and trend analyses and drafting associated commentary
  • Develop, maintain, and enhance complex Excel-based financial reporting, reconciliations, and analytical tools to support accurate and timely financial reporting.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline, automate, and improve accounting and reporting processes through the effective use of technology, data analytics, and best practices.
  • Assist in preparing support schedules for annual audits and preparing annual audited financial statements
  • Prepare various month-end schedules and post related journal entries
  • Review and approve various support schedules and reconciliations as needed, with a focus on continuous process improvement
  • Assist with the preparation of tax supporting schedules
  • Partner effectively and proactively with other departments on financial reporting matters
  • Assist with implementation of strategic initiatives that drive growth and operational improvements
  • Assist with implementing new accounting standards and performing accounting research
  • A desire for continuous learning opportunities and professional development along with the ability to identify and implement continual process improvements
  • Provide back-up support to other Finance & Accounting team members as needed

Education and Work Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or related field required
  • 3+ years of relevant accounting/finance experience
  • Understanding of commercial real estate and mortgage banking preferred
  • Strong working knowledge of U.S. GAAP
  • Previous experience working in Microsoft Dynamics GP, NetSuite, and/or Salesforce experience preferred
  • Experience in a multi-entity environment, with exposure to intercompany accounting, consolidations, and entity-level financial reporting

Demonstrated Professional Competencies:
  • High degree of computer skills including proficiency in a variety of accounting applications, Excel spreadsheets (advanced formulas, macro building, Power Query experience, ODBC and other data connectivity knowledge) and various other Microsoft Office products
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Copilot or similar AI-enabled tools, with the ability to leverage technology to enhance productivity, data analysis, process documentation, and financial reporting support.
  • Strong general ledger and financial statements working knowledge
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and in a team environment
  • Demonstrated organization skills with the ability to handle multiple projects and assignments; able to prioritize and meet deadlines
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to reflect level of responsibilities
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to perform self-review
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to maintain sensitive and confidential information

Northmarq carefully considers multiple factors to determine compensation, including a candidate's education, training, and experience. The salary range for the Sr Financial Reporting Analyst position is $85,000.00 to $105,000.00 annually. This range is a good faith estimate, and the actual compensation that is offered to a successful candidate will depend on the candidate's skills, qualifications, and experience.
