We are seeking a strategic and detail-oriented
Senior Financial Planning Analyst to lead critical expense allocation processes, deliver actionable insights, and support key financial initiatives across the organization.
Administrative Expense Allocations- Lead the end-to-end process of allocating administrative expenses across segments and lines of business.
- Ensure accuracy, transparency, and consistency in allocation methodologies.
- Partner with business units to validate allocation drivers and assumptions.
- Analyze allocated expense results to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for cost optimization.
- Develop and deliver insightful reporting packages for senior management, highlighting key drivers and actionable insights.
- Support forecasting and budgeting processes with detailed expense analytics.
- Effectively communicate expense impacts and changes to FP&A leadership.
Federal Employee Program (FEP) Expense Management- Own the tracking, analysis, and reporting of all expenses related to the Federal Employee Program line of business.
- Collaborate with operational and compliance teams to ensure expenses align with program guidelines and expectations.
- Provide financial support for strategic initiatives and submissions related to FEP.
Medical Loss Ratio (MLR) Quality Improvement (QI) Allocation- Manage the MLR QI allocation process, ensuring compliance with program guidelines and internal policies.
- Coordinate with actuarial, accounting, and operational teams to validate allocation inputs and outputs.
- Maintain documentation and audit trails for all MLR QI-related financial activities.
Audit Support- Serve as the primary FP&A contact for all audit activities, including FEP, CMS, Insurance Department, and all other financial audits.
- Prepare and review audit documentation, respond to auditor inquiries, and ensure timely resolution of audit recommendations.
- Maintain strong internal controls and support continuous improvement in audit readiness.
Qualifications - ExternalRequired:- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field; 6+ years of FP&A or financial analysis experience.
- Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, complex formulas, data modeling, automation).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities; experience with expense allocations and financial reporting.
- Proven track record in process management and improvement.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally.
- Experience supporting financial audits.
Preferred:- Experience with Oracle EPM or similar financial planning systems.
- Knowledge of healthcare finance and MLR regulations
Independence has implemented a "Hybrid" model which consists of Associates working in the office 3 days a week (Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday) and remotely 2 days a week (Monday & Friday). This role is designated as a role that fits into the "Hybrid" model. While associates may work remotely on our designated remote days, the work must be performed in the Tri-State Area of Delaware, New Jersey or Pennsylvania
