Job Description

The Sr. Financial Analyst provides decision support by collecting, analyzing and interpreting data, as well as forecasting business trends to support the overall strategic and operating plans of Advance Auto Parts. These include Customer Acceleration/Transformation, Availability Excellence and Superior Experience by driving profitable growth through rigorous analysis and insight.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Ownership of the periodic financial forecast process for multiple operational departments, including meeting with business partners, documenting drivers of change, and uploading changes to the financial system
  • Provide driver-based P&L variance analysis on periodic, quarterly, and annual financial results for the inbound transportation department
  • Monitor and review departmental KPIs with business partners on a weekly basis; diving into lower-level metrics to provide complete understanding of results.
  • Track ROI related to Inbound Freight management program and make recommendations for future program expansion or improvements
  • Map existing business processes and propose changes to improve speed, quality, and overall operational efficiency
  • Participate in the development of long-range financial forecasts and related budgets, considering alternative scenarios and economic prospects as appropriate
  • Provide fact-based financial analysis, economic modeling and ad-hoc analysis that supports the business case for proposed investment
  • Provide insights to business partners to increase organizational financial acumen, and allow for fully informed decision making to drive financial performance

  • Strong Microsoft Excel experience; SQL experience a plus
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills
  • Ability to work with and apply mathematical concepts to practical situations such as probability and statistical inference
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals or technical procedures
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to present information and respond to questions from groups of senior management, department heads, managers, and peers.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Experience working in retail environment preferred


EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor's degree in Economics/Finance/Business is required, (MBA preferred); and
  • 3-5 years of financial and business analysis experience; or
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience.
