Job Summary

This individual will be a key contributor to our financial planning processes, supporting the annual budget cycle, driving the high-level and detailed quarterly forecasts, and delivering clear, compelling variance analysis that helps leadership understand business performance and make informed decisions. The Senior Financial Analyst will work with the Business Finance teams, Accounting team, and staff from the other organizational units and departments. This individual will also become a subject matter expert on Oracle EPM budgeting and forecasting and will be responsible for training new users and assisting current users on various modules.

This role is expected to make independent decisions using professional judgment regarding the areas of focus and provide recommendations for process improvement related to budget, forecasts, and the financial reporting package. This position will report to the Director of FP&A and will have no direct reports.

Key Responsibilities

  • Compiles financial data and provides analysis and reports using systems in place such as Oracle and EPM
  • Develops and implements improvements to the forecast process, timeline, scheduling and reports and analysis used to present to management in conjunction with suggestions for improvement with the financial reporting package
  • Assists in the development of the financial reporting package. Works with the departments to understand their forecast and provides a clear and concise summary of the overall forecast
  • Support the FP&A team by delivering detailed analytics on monthly results and quarterly forecasts against budget, previous forecast, and prior year, leveraging historical trends, run-rates, and key business insights
  • Develops and analyzes the yearly capital budget by working with financial partners across the IEEE and develops and analyzes the yearly budget for depreciation resulting from the capital budget created
  • Supports the data repository spreadsheets for the forecast as well as the budget
  • Maintains and updates as needed the supporting process flows for internal management review.
  • Assists the team with financial analysis, development of financial presentations, and preparation for meetings in support of the IEEE CFO and IEEE Treasurer
  • Maintains and improves the competitive analysis work papers
  • Trains other staff across the IEEE on the systems used on the budget and forecast processes
  • Supports the IEEE Volunteer led Finance Committee (mtgs, documentation, etc.)
  • Supports the IEEE Treasurer's Briefings; meetings and calls to the same level of support as with the Finance Committee.
  • Communicates with key stakeholders across the OUs and with Business Finance to complete all required tasks connected to the overall role in order to meet our mission and vision
  • Leverages AI technologies to streamline workflows and drive operational efficiency

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience relevant business body of knowledge such as accounting or business administration Required
  • Master's or other advanced degree Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree with specialization in either finance or accounting Preferred


Work Experience

  • 4-7 years relevant experience in financial planning and analysis Required
  • 4-7 years demonstrated expertise in financial analysis and budgetary operations; strong interpersonal skills and communications skills required


Licenses and Certifications

  • Individuals who are studying for or who have completed and maintained licensure as either a Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant Pref


Skills and Requirements

  • Tech-savvy problem solver who proactively identifies and implements digital solutions to overcome business challenges
  • Must possess strong computer modeling skills
  • Must be an expert in Microsoft Office applications, such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
