The Sr. (Field) Service Technician is responsible for installing, configuring, calibrating, and repairing technical products and systems at customer field locations. This role performs a variety of maintenance and technical support tasks. This would involve all type of hydraulic, mechanical, vibration and system problems. A pump field expert with knowledge in pumps, prime movers and auxiliary systems to improve customer MTBR, reduce customer costs and assist with RCFA.
Key Responsibilities- Visit customer sites, consult, and investigate all aspects of technical design including troubleshooting, problem solving, and customer system analysis, and give recommendations. Examples may include: site performance testing existing pump, comparing original OEM (Sulzer or non Sulzer) pump performance to current performance; site vibration testing and providing recommendations to solve identified problems; RCFA analysis of any problems (pumps, seals, couplings, system to help Sulzer customers).
- Write detailed and professional reports based on data obtained from customer site visits that will allow customer and Sulzer Service Center to diagnose, fix, test and solve difficult technical issues to customer/Sulzer satisfaction. Issues could include vibration, pump performance (hydraulic and mechanical), system issues, materials, corrosion/erosion etc. Write detailed and thorough technical report and carry out Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA)
- When not at site or doing site reports, supports AME SC's with Field Engineering Assistance Requests (FEAR's) with technical issues as mentioned above.
- Ensures current applicable disciplines are used in all Field Engineering activities (mechanical, hydraulic, metallurgy, instrumentation & control).
- Supports, cooperates with, and participates in company-wide LEAN and EHS Management System which includes following all safety, health and environmental policies and procedures. Supports and cooperates in company-wide Quality Management effort.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:- Ten years' experience in pump, systems interface, and hydraulic applications preferred
- High vibration and pump expertise required
- Excellent communication (both verbal and written) and interpersonal skills
- Very organized with ability to prioritize
- Ability to work under pressure
- Ability to travel to site at a moment's notice
