Full Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY:

As an Advanced Energy Field Applications Engineer (FAE), you will serve as the primary technical liaison between our customers and internal Sales, Marketing, and Engineering teams. Representing the highly respected Artesyn and Advanced Energy brands, you will act as a trusted technical advisor within the power conversion industry and the markets we serve.

In this customer-facing role, you will play a key part in understanding application requirements, guiding customers in selecting or developing the optimal solution, and clearly presenting differentiating value. You will support customers throughout the entire engagement-from concept through implementation, ensuring successful adoption of Advanced Energy solutions and fostering long-term partnerships.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Develop and maintain a trusted technical advisor relationship with targeted customers to support the adoption of Advanced Energy power solutions in the AI-hyperscale, enterprise, telecom and/or networking industries.
  • Review application conditions, specifications, test methods to show compliance and help define products and projects, including an understanding of customer expectations
  • Be part of a cross-functional team including Sales, Engineering, Marketing, Quality and Operations to support the customer and act as a technical liaison between customers and internal teams
  • As part of the Global High Volume Products Business Unit FAE team, collaborate with and assist other FAEs in North America and globally on common customer programs and issues
  • Interact frequently with customers to support new development programs and sustain existing programs while cultivating new business opportunities.
  • Responsible for performing activities in support of all phases of system qualification both pre and post design in. These activities may include things such as test and debug in our lab and at customer site to support AEI/Artesyn standard and custom products.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Extensive knowledge of power electronics with ability to qualify, test, modify, and debug power supplies in the lab as needed
  • Demonstrated ability to work with all levels of a customer, from bench level debugging to presenting solutions to the customer's technical team
  • User level knowledge of digital communication buses such as i2C/SMBus/PMBus, RS-485/MODBUS, Ethernet/MODBUS-TCP and/or CAN/CANOPEN bus.
  • User level experience with Python, LabVIEW and/or similar engineering support tools used to support/update microcontroller controlled devices with tasks such as firmware updates, backbox interpretation and/or other digital features.
  • Experienced with being part of a global cross-functional team including Sales, Engineering, Marketing, Quality, and Operations to support the customer and act as a technical liaison between customers and internal teams.
  • Demonstrated skills to influence and earn the respect of engineering leaders both internally and with the customer.
  • Capable of driving issues to resolution with a sense of urgency and ensure external and internal stakeholders are aligned
  • Demonstrated time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaniously ensuring an appropriate level of urgency is applied to each.

EXPERIENCE:
  • 3+ years' design/application experience in power supply and/or other power electronic products

EDUCATION:
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering with an electronic engineering background (2-year electronics or related degree with 5 years' FAE experience in the power conversion industry will be considered)

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
  • Location: Santa Clara Valley (Silicon Valley)
  • Traditional in-office environment - Milpitas, CA location
  • Domestic and/or international travel up to 10% of the time
  • Some evening meetings to support global team and customers


COMPENSATION:

As required by multiple state pay transparency laws, Advanced Energy provides a reasonable range of compensation for each job posting. Actual compensation is influenced by an array of factors including, but not limited to, skill set, level of experience, and specific office location. The range of starting pay for this role is $125,000 to $170,000 per year. Additionally, this position is eligible for the Sales Incentive Plan with a specific target amount to be determined based on the role.
