Full Job Description
Position Summary

The Senior Estimator - Design Build will plan, coordinate, direct and execute estimates as required.

They will help coordinate incoming estimates and opportunity tracking through Salesforce and work with the Sales team to ensure that estimates and budgets are coordinated with bid strategies as required.

The Senior Estimator will work with operations to ensure risks are mitigated and margin is maximized through the design process.

Competitive Compensation Range: $110,000-$140,000 annually, depending on experience.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Exercise a high level of professionalism and confidentiality when working with staff, projects, and proprietary information.
  • Evaluate projects, determine the scope, and understand the level of detail required by the Business Development team.
  • Support Sales with conceptual budgets and takeoffs
  • Review all architectural and structural drawings, specifications, schedules, contract documents, proposal drawings, structural calculations, and other information prepared by internal and outside sources for compliance with bidding documents.
  • Evaluate project construction schedules and coordinate as needed with internal customers to ensure buy-in prior to bid submission.
  • Prepare complete quantity surveys (takeoffs) for all materials included in the scope of the bid.
  • Prepare material summaries and sketches as required for soliciting quotations and developing cost estimates.
  • Estimate all field and shop labor hours required for the scope of work in conjunction with relevant departments.
  • Obtain labor rates, tax rates, transportation expenses, duty rates, and other cost information required for cost estimate preparation.
  • Solicit subcontractor quotations as necessary to complete the scope of work.
  • Update subcontractors with plans, specifications, and addenda as needed.
  • Review vendor quotations for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with project specifications.
  • Update vendors when addenda are issued and address questions and clarifications from vendors.
  • Prepare complete and accurate cost estimates for projects.
  • Prepare sales prices, formal proposals, unit prices, and other bid-required breakdowns.
  • Complete lists of inclusions, clarifications, and exclusions for submission with bids.
  • Review and mark up all contract documents.
  • Prepare and lead pre-submittal reviews with Sales and Management teams, identifying risks, opportunities, and value engineering (VE) items.
  • Prepare final customer submittal packages and handoff documentation for the Project Management team.
  • Organize and manage the estimating team for project pursuits.
  • Update Salesforce with required project information.
  • Support Business Development and Operations with scope and contract negotiations.
  • Complete monthly reviews of actual job cost information with the Chief Estimator.
  • Support Project Management teams with budgets and cost analysis to minimize risk and achieve margin goals.
  • Consult with the Chief Estimator and drive departmental improvements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
