Reporting to the Estimating Manager, the Senior Estimator will be responsible for accurately estimating the cost of labour, equipment, and materials for supply and installation, as well as accountability for the direction, preparation, and documentation of work completion estimates for utility construction projects.
What You'll Do Here:- Shared accountability for the overall financial performance of awarded projects
- Analyze documents, specifications, proposals, and addendums in preparation for pricing
- Perform estimate-related oral and/or written communications with clients
- Review project sites prior to price preparation
- Collaborate effectively with Operations, PMO, and Owner's staff as appropriate
- Obtain input from Operations staff as required
- Perform quantity take-offs from construction drawings where applicable
- Obtain pricing from suppliers and subcontractors and incorporate into estimates
- Formulate all costs for tender submissions, including labour, equipment, materials, rentals, and subcontracts
- Be accountable for the accuracy and completeness of tender submissions
- Oversee the distribution of appropriate documentation upon project award
- Manage scope change pricing as required
- Maintain files and correspondence on active and completed projects
- Provide technical support to field staff as appropriate
- Drive estimating process and procedure compliance and consistency
- Conduct bid handover meetings as required
- Assist with prequalification, RFQs, and RFI submissions as required
- Incorporate and comply with Aecon's risk management policies and procedures
- Build and maintain positive relationships with clients, consultants, and key subcontractors
- Protect all forms of proprietary information
- Maintain estimating data systems to ensure information is current and accurate
- Assist in the training and development of new estimating staff as appropriate
- Perform repetitive tasks such as data entry

What You Bring to the Team:- Diploma or Degree in Civil, Construction, Electrical, Business, or a related field
- Minimum7-10 years of estimating and/or operational experience in utility infrastructure or construction
- Understanding of electrical systems considered an asset
- Construction site experience considered an asset
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Prior operational experience considered an asset
- Strong ability to read and understand construction drawings and contract documents
- Thorough knowledge of contract language, terms and conditions, and bonding requirements
- Knowledge of associated trade labour agreements and working rules
- Solid understanding of job cost fundamentals, accounting, and reporting
- Self-motivated with strong organizational and time-management skills
- Strong computer proficiency (MS Excel, Word, Project, and estimating software)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work accurately and effectively under pressure
- Flexibility to adjust work schedules as required to meet deadlines
- Strong teamwork and collaboration skills
- Valid driver's license with ability to travel as required
- Professional designation considered an asset (e.g., Professional Engineer)

Salary: The expected salary for this position is $110,000 - $150,000 annually.
Individual pay is determined based on several factors such as work location, education, experience and unique skills.
