At Texas Children's Hospital, every detail of our environment plays a role in the patient and family experience. We're seeking a Senior Environmental Graphics Designer to lead the planning, design, and implementation of our enterprise-wide signage and wayfinding program across new construction, renovations, and campus expansion projects.

What You'll Do

As the Senior Environmental Graphics Designer, you'll serve as the subject matter expert for environmental graphics, leading projects from concept through installation while partnering with architects, facilities teams, marketing, clinical leadership, and external vendors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead signage and wayfinding programs for complex capital projects, renovations, and campus expansions.
  • Develop creative, functional, and code-compliant environmental graphic solutions that enhance the patient and visitor experience.
  • Maintain and evolve Texas Children's graphic standards and signage guidelines.
  • Produce design concepts, renderings, shop drawings, installation details, material specifications, and production templates.
  • Coordinate signage programming throughout construction projects while maintaining project schedules and budgets.
  • Collaborate with Facilities Planning, Real Estate, Marketing, Compliance, Legal, Philanthropy, and clinical stakeholders.
  • Manage vendor relationships, including fabricators, installers, manufacturers, and consultants.
  • Conduct site visits, production inspections, quality reviews, and installation oversight.
  • Coordinate interior, exterior, parking, donor recognition, and temporary signage solutions.
  • Develop cost estimates, manage project budgets, approve invoices, and monitor project progress.
  • Mentor team members by providing technical guidance and design expertise.
  • Stay current on industry trends, materials, fabrication techniques, accessibility standards, and emerging technologies.

Experience & Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Environmental Design, Interior Design, Architecture, Project Management, Fine Arts, Visual Communications, or a related design discipline.
  • Three or more years of experience in environmental graphics, signage, graphic communications, facilities planning, architecture, or related project-based design work.
  • Experience leading multiple design projects simultaneously from concept through installation.
  • Strong understanding of architectural plans, shop drawings, scales, and construction documentation.
  • Demonstrated project management experience with the ability to independently drive projects to completion.
  • Technical Skills
    • Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop)
    • Microsoft Office Suite
    • Experience with production methods, print technologies, and fabrication processes
    • Ability to develop construction documents, shop drawings, and production-ready artwork
    • Understanding of ADA, wayfinding, and environmental graphics best practices is highly preferred.
