Role SummaryThe Sr. Engineering Technician II, will support the Test & Development Workshop and Engineering Teams. This role involves the use of tooling to perform mechanical and electrical repairs and modifications, works directly with various engineering teams to support testing needs and requires maintaining an organized and safe work environment.
Responsibilities- Perform diagnosis and repair of prototype vehicle's electrical/mechanical/software systems
- Maintain detailed records of all work performed
- Maintain test equipment in operational condition by performing routine maintenance and making minor repairs/adjustments as needed
- Design, build and modify vehicle instrumentation, mounting systems, test equipment, wiring harnesses and data acquisition systems as needed.
- Fabricate and/or modify existing prototype components/fixtures
- Document setup, troubleshooting and test results, communicate issues and propose improvements
- Prepare vehicles for testing, including instrumentation installation and troubleshooting of data loggers and test equipment
- Execute vehicle testing and data capture with the support of test engineers to evaluate prototype vehicles and systems.
- Communicate directly with engineers and other technicians to ensure a high level of technical support
- Load and transport prototype vehicles to specified test locations as needed
- Test drive prototype vehicles
- Establish and maintain good working relationships with partners and stakeholders
Qualifications- 5+ years of technician/mechanic work experience in the automotive industry. Electric/hybrid vehicle experience preferred
- Valid driver license with clean record
- Advanced driver training. (preferred)
- Strong automotive electrical understanding
- High Voltage electrical knowledge and training
- CAN/LIN network understanding
- Minor fabrication experience
- Strong technical and mechanical ability
- Minimum age of 21
- No driving related suspensions or revocation of Driver License (within a 3-5 year period)
- No drug or alcohol related driving incidents in the last 3 years
- No more than 1 serious moving violation in the last 3 years
- Must have a valid driver's license in the state of residence that you will be operating a vehicle
- Will be subject to continuous Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) monitoring
- Travel up to 50%
Pay DisclosureThe Hourly pay range for this role is $37.42 - $46.77 for
Irvine, California based applicants. This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. An employee's position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, shift, and organizational needs.
The successful candidate may be eligible for annual performance bonus and equity awards.
