The Sr Engineering Manager of Manufacturing Innovation & Technology Strategy, will lead the Humacao site's innovation function and be responsible for defining, governing, and executing a multi-year innovation portfolio aligned with the site's strategic vision and business objectives. This leader will maintain a balanced focus on current operational needs while shaping the manufacturing technologies, capabilities, and talent required to execute the portfolio.
The role serves as the site's technology strategist, identifying emerging manufacturing, automation, digital, sustainability, and Industry 4.0 opportunities that improve quality, reduce cost, enhance efficiency, strengthen regulatory compliance, and support future growth.
The successful candidate will develop and sustain a high-performing technical organization capable of scouting, evaluating, piloting, and implementing advanced manufacturing technologies while building compelling business cases that secure investment and funding for transformational initiatives.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned:

  • Develop, own, and continuously refresh the site's 5-year Innovation and Technology Roadmap.
  • Create and manage a balanced portfolio of innovation initiatives ranging from incremental improvements to transformational technologies.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies, trends, and industry best practices to position the site ahead of future manufacturing challenges.
  • Develop innovation investments strategies that align with site objectives, operational priorities, and enterprise goals.
  • Drive collaboration across Engineering, Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, Finance, and Global Manufacturing Technology teams.
  • Develop organizational capabilities in automation, digital manufacturing, AI, advanced analytics, robotics, and emerging manufacturing technologies.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, experimentation, continuous learning, and accountability.
  • Plans, directs and implements all aspects of the company's design and development of new medical device products or software systems.
  • May develop, evaluate, implement and maintain technical quality assurance and control systems or reliability systems and standards pertaining to materials, techniques, or company products.
  • Directs the development of new concepts from initial design to market release.
  • Manages feasibility studies of the design to determine if capable of functioning as intended.
  • Monitors documentation maintenance throughout all phases of research and development.
  • Organizes the coordination of activities with outside suppliers and consultants to ensure timely delivery.
  • Selects, develops and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.


Required Knowledge and Experience: Requires broad management knowledge to lead project teams in one department. Typically has mastery level knowledge and skills within a specific technical or professional discipline with broad understanding of other areas within the job function. Requires a Baccalaureate Engineering degree (or for degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree which satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. a7 214.2(h)( 4)(iii)(A) and minimum of 7 years of relevant experience with 5+ years of managerial experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience with 5+ years of managerial experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing, Automation, Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
  • Demonstrated experience leading automation and technology implementation projects.
  • Strong financial and business acumen with experience building executive-level business cases.
  • Experience managing multi-million-dollar capital portfolios.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams in highly regulated manufacturing environments.
  • Lean Six Sigma , DRM or equivalent continuous improvement certification.
  • Advanced statistical analysis (DOE, SPC, MSA, process capability studies)
  • Equipment qualification & validation leadership (IQ/OQ/PQ)
  • Regulatory knowledge (FDA QSR, ISO 13485, GMP)
  • Cost reduction and value engineering
  • Project management (Agile, PMP fundamentals)
