As a Senior Electrical Engineering Manager in the Cardiac Rhythm Management organization, you will leverage your technical breadth, product development experience, and leadership skills to lead a team responsible for electrical product engineering, PCB design, electronic design and integration, hardware/software/ASIC integration at the board and system level, RF/telemetry development, manufacturing support, test development, and safety-critical product compliance.
This role is ideal for a highly motivated and accountable engineering leader who is passionate about developing people, delivering complex medical technologies, and improving patients' lives through rigorous engineering execution.
This position is in Mounds View, MN. within the Cardiac Rhythm Management (CRM) operating unit. A Day in the Life This role of
Senior Engineering Manager is expected to have responsibilities in both project management and people management, as well as individual contributions as an SME. The broad, collective responsibilities for this role include but are not limited to the following:
- Team Leadership & Development: Builds, develops, coaches, and evaluates a high-performing team of electrical engineers focused on technical excellence, accountability, collaboration, knowledge sharing, and career growth while fostering a strong culture of design rigor and continuous improvement.
- Strategic Alignment & Execution: Sets team and individual goals aligned with business priorities, program commitments, and organizational objectives; monitors progress, provides regular feedback, and leads resource planning, prioritization, and staffing across development programs, sustaining projects, and initiatives.
- Technical Oversight & Delivery: Ensures delivery of high-reliability, safety-critical electrical designs, PCB implementations, firmware/ASIC integration, verification evidence, and production test methods across the full product lifecycle, applying rigorous standards for circuit design, mixed-signal electronics, RF/telemetry, EMI/EMC, MRI safety, and reliability.
- System Integration & Requirements: Provides leadership for electrical system integration across hardware, ASICs, firmware, mechanical interfaces, and system-level requirements; oversees development and maintenance of electrical requirements, interface specifications, characterization plans, and documentation.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partners closely with program management, systems engineering, firmware, mechanical, reliability, quality, regulatory, operations, and global manufacturing teams to manage cost, scope, schedule, technical risk, manufacturing transfer, yield improvement, and issue resolution.
- Compliance & Continuous Improvement: Ensures all work complies with medical device design controls and standards (ISO 14708, IEC 60601, etc.); drives improvements in design practices, test automation, technical reviews, and decision-making while escalating issues through governance channels as needed.
Qualifications - Must Have - Minimum RequirementsTO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS ROLE, PLEASE BE SURE THE MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS ARE EVIDENT ON YOUR RESUME- Bachelor's degree in electrical, systems, mechanical or biomedical engineering and minimum of 7 years of work experience with 5 years of managerial experience OR advanced degree in mechanical, electrical, systems or biomedical engineering with 5 years of work experience and 5 years of managerial experience.
Nice to Have- Experience leading electrical engineering, product engineering, hardware integration, or systems integration teams in a regulated product development environment.
- Experience developing Class III medical devices, active implantable medical devices, or other high-reliability safety-critical products.
- Demonstrated understanding of medical device design controls, verification and validation, requirements management, risk management, and post-market support.
- Technical breadth across PCB design, analog electronics, mixed-signal electronics, digital interfaces, RF/telemetry, low-power design, EMI/EMC, manufacturing test, and product integration.
- Experience integrating PCB hardware with firmware, ASICs, mechanical systems, sensors, electrodes, batteries, telemetry systems, or other embedded product technologies.

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$171,200.00 - $256,800.00
This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).
The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
