Caterpillar Inc. seeks Sr Engineer-Test/Validation at its facility located at 100 Sanford Street, East Peoria, IL 61611. Enhance development processes, tooling, and machinery to maximize product quality and ensure manufacturing readiness. Recommend and implement new technologies, including automation, robotics, and computer-aided manufacturing software, to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance quality. Plan and refine testing procedures to ensure reliability, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness. Monitor machine and process capabilities, addressing performance reliability and excessive maintenance needs. Process large quantities of information accurately and productively, utilizing cross-checking mechanisms and quality assurance tools to meet or exceed accuracy goals. Organize and prioritize steps to resolve issues, assess options, and predict their impact. Provide technical solutions, estimate project costs and timelines, and engage subject matter experts to address challenges. Coordinate test plans, including resources, strategies, schedules, processes, and tools. Collaborate with design teams to integrate testing considerations into system designs, develop test scenarios and scripts, and evaluate the business impact of failures. Match testing methodologies and tools to products, ensuring critical resolutions are timely. Lead SFMEA, PFMEA, RCCA processes, control plan development, and standard work improvements for heat treat areas. Provide manufacturing technical support in process control, maintenance, and internal certification. Analyze systems, procedures, training, and equipment needs, recommending improvements. Collaborate with Facilities, Maintenance, EHS, Quality, and Operations teams to address ergonomic, safety, efficiency, and quality concerns. Lead capital projects (<$100k) and solve production problems while driving operational improvements. Participate in NTI, NPI, and CPI improvement activities, communicating results to customers, suppliers, team members, and business units. Ensure adherence to standards, policies, and practices related to quality, cost reduction, safety, and ergonomics. Train others to resolve integration or communication issues in multi-vendor environments, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and technical excellence. REQS: This position requires a bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Metallurgy, Material Science, Materials Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field plus 5 years of experience in gear manufacturing, heat treatment operations or related occupation. Additionally, the applicant must have employment experience with: (1) Heat Treat Engineering or Heat Treat Operations; (2) Data analysis tools including Excel, and Minitab; (3) Manufacturing engineering and Continuous Improvement, Standard Work, Lean manufacturing & Built In Quality; (4) Carburizing heat treat and dimensional control of powertrain and transmission gears; and (5) Metallurgical evaluation of materials including: hardness, microstructure, residual stress, and distortion. Summary Pay Range:

$131,872.00 - $169,060.00
