Job Title:

Sr Liaison Engineer

Position Summary:

The Senior Liaison Engineer is responsible for resolving highly complex technical issues related to aircraft manufacturing, requiring advanced engineering expertise, sound judgment, and innovative problem-solving. This role develops and validates repair solutions by applying comprehensive knowledge of aircraft design principles, manufacturing processes, and applicable regulatory requirements. The Senior Liaison Engineer collaborates with cross-functional subject matter experts to verify the accuracy and technical integrity of engineering solutions through formal reviews and consultation. Additionally, this position evaluates work in progress to ensure compliance with engineering specifications, design criteria, quality standards, production schedules, and cost objectives while supporting the timely delivery of aircraft.

Essential Job Functions

Analyze and disposition production airframe nonconformances through standard repair methods, ensuring aircraft modifications comply with airworthiness and aviation safety standards.

Function as primary technical bridge facilitating communication and being the focal point between airframe manufacturing and engineering on technical issues related to Type Design.

Represent Engineering in the Material Review Board (MRB) process of airframe nonconformance resolution by dispositioning non-standard repairs, including the substantiation of the proposed resolution.

Investigate recurring manufacturing errors and engineering drawing and specification errors, and work alongside appropriate teams to resolve through corrective action, drawing revision and engineering order or specification action.

Produce innovative solutions and exhibit resourcefulness supporting integrated product teams, partnering with specialty groups like Structural Analysis and Materials & Processes (M&P) to modernize Piper with airframe industry practices.

Support Design and Manufacturing by determining appropriate methods for fabrication, inspection, and installation of airframe components.

Act in a mentoring capacity to junior engineers.

Minimum Position Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Education and Experience

Requires a Bachelors Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, and minimum of six years of experience with MRB; Seven years of experience is preferred, including direct experience as a MRB structures engineer or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Working knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulation 14 CFR parts 21 and 23, related Joint Aviation Requirement (JAR), and Civil Aviation Authority (CAR) 3 knowledge required.

Knowledge of aircraft with respect to structure, materials and processes specifications required.

Working knowledge of Windows based computer programs such as Word, Excel, and Outlook
