The Senior Engineer I is responsible for designing, developing, and improving industrial fan and blower products while providing technical leadership on engineering projects. This role supports products from concept through manufacturing and field installation. The successful Engineer will be collaborative and creative, with problem solving and technical ability.
What you can expect in this role (Job Responsibilities)While each day brings new opportunities to SPX, your core responsibilities will be:
- Design centrifugal and axial fan systems, impellers, housings, shafts, bearings, and related equipment.
- Perform engineering calculations involving airflow, pressure, vibration, structural integrity, and efficiency.
- Use CAD software (SolidWorks, Creo, AutoCAD, etc.) to create models and drawings.
- Conduct or review CFD, FEA, vibration, and performance analyses.
- Lead product development and continuous improvement projects.
- Support manufacturing, quality, and sourcing teams during production.
- Investigate field issues and perform root-cause analysis on equipment failures.
- Review customer specifications and develop custom-engineered solutions.
- Create engineering documentation, test reports, BOMs, and design standards.
- Mentor junior engineers and review technical work.
- Coordinate with sales, operations, testing labs, suppliers, and customers.

Required Experience - 5-10+ years of engineering experience in rotating equipment, HVAC, industrial machinery, fans, blowers, or related products.
- Experience with:
- SolidWorks, Creo, or AutoCAD
- GD&T
- FEA and CFD tools
- Product testing and validation
- Manufacturing processes and DFM principles
- Strong project management and communication skills.
