Senior Electrical Project Engineer / Senior Electrical Project Designer

In this role you will:

  • Lead the planning and design of complex electrical power systems for healthcare, higher education, research, corporate, government and institutional facilities.
  • Design resilient electrical infrastructure solutions that support reliability, redundancy, emergency power, and business continuity objectives.
  • Create medium-voltage electrical distribution systems, including utility coordination, substations, switchgear, and campus distribution infrastructure.
  • Design and evaluate campus-wide electrical distribution systems, including expansion planning, system resiliency, and long-term infrastructure strategies.
  • Lead the integration and evaluation of alternate energy technologies, including solar PV, battery energy storage systems (BESS), microgrids, combined heat and power (CHP), and other emerging energy solutions while working with the building performance team to design and integrate alternative energy sources into the electrical distribution to create sustainable designs.
  • Develop innovative electrical design solutions that address complex technical challenges while balancing performance, constructability, operational needs, and cost.
  • Perform electrical system analyses including short-circuit, protective device coordination, arc flash, load flow, voltage drop, and reliability studies.
  • Apply expert knowledge of applicable electrical codes and standards, including NEC, NFPA, IEEE, NETA, and energy codes, while coordinating with other discipline-specific requirements.
  • Present complex engineering analysis clearly and effectively to owner and design teams.

 

You will need to have:

 

  • BS or MS degree in electrical engineering or Associates degree in a related
  • 15+ years of experience designing complex electrical power systems for healthcare, commercial, cultural, government, industrial, higher education, and campus energy system projects to support our 8 segments.
  • Documented experience with a consulting engineering firm or A/E firm providing electrical design.
  • Experience designing electrical systems from 38 kV through 480/277 V and 208/120 V distribution.
  • Experience with emergency power systems, generators, paralleling switchgear, UPS systems, and critical power distribution for campus installations.
  • Experience with renewable energy integration and utility interconnection requirements.
  • Expertise in National Fire Protection Association Codes (NFPA) and an understanding of applicable (city, state, federal) is essential.
  • Working knowledge of Revit. Familiarity with electrical analysis software (i.e. SKM, Easy Power, Helioscope) and knowledge of the current sustainable technologies applicable to the design of commercial electrical systems.

 

Salary Information:

 

The pay range listed aligns to the geography of the office for which this position is posted. Actual compensation will be based upon work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer. Individuals in this role working more than 24 hours a week on a regular basis are eligible to participate in HGA’s robust benefit programs which include an annual bonus and success sharing bonus program, 401(k) guaranteed contribution, paid parental leave, medical, dental and life insurance plans as well as PTO and short- and long-term disability programs. Salary Range: $110,000 - $133,600 (unlicensed Mid-West) or $125,900 - $155,000 (licensed Engineer Mid-West) depending on location, qualifications and experience.
