Full Job Description
Dow has an exciting opportunity for a Sr. Electrical Engineer located in Bristol (PA, USA) supporting the site's maintenance team.

The Sr. Electrical Engineer provides technical electrical expertise to support day to day plant maintenance activities as well as strategic project work to execute both capital and expense projects across the site. Provides solutions and technical expertise related to process instrumentation, electrical distribution and electrical safe work standards. At this level, supports intermediate and larger improvement projects, or portions of the process design within significantly large capital projects. Requires expanded conceptual and practical knowledge in own job discipline and broadens capabilities.

Responsibilities:
  • Provides support and electrical expertise to the Site Maintenance Department to help resolve ongoing equipment issues, create site instrument/electrical improvement strategies and provide support for small and large electrical project work.
  • Provides electrical engineering support during the design, construction, and commissioning of site's electrical infrastructure capital improvements.
  • Develops maintenance operating discipline and provides technical expertise to plant personnel on troubleshooting failures, repairs, and evaluating whether equipment is designed to meet its intended or existing service conditions.
  • Supports key capital project execution phases by ensuring project scope is well defined, meets business needs in a cost-effective manner, and includes technical requirements for both local and industry needs.
  • Serve as the engineering owner for medium- and low-voltage electrical distribution systems, substations, switchgear, transformers, motor control centers (MCCs), UPS systems, standby generators, emergency power systems, power monitoring systems, lighting, grounding, and facility electrical distribution
  • Own and maintain site electrical documentation, including single-line diagrams, arc flash studies, protective device settings, and equipment files.
  • Identifies technical problems both within designs and existing operations. Appropriately engages the business and functional technology center and the subject matter expert network to resolve.


Required Qualifications:
  • A Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or relevant military experience at or above a U.S. E6 or Canadian Petty Officer 2nd Class or Sergeant ranking.
  • 3+ years of relevant experience required
  • A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Prior Dow Maintenance, Repair, and Operations experience
  • Medium and Low-voltage electrical distribution experience


Physical Requirements:
Must be willing and able to do the following with or without a reasonable accommodation.
  • Wear safety equipment, such as earplugs, goggles, and steel-toed shoes
  • Wear and use respirators.
  • Perform frequent bending, reaching, and lifting.
  • Work in tight or closed-in spaces.
  • Climb stairs/ladders and work high off the ground.
  • Stand or walk for extended periods of time.
  • This role does involve elevated work greater than or equal to four feet above the ground. Must be able to wear and use personal protective equipment (PPE), including harnesses with a total weight capacity of 300lbs. (This typically accommodates individuals who weigh 285 or less)

  • Engineering Drawings: An engineering drawing is a type of technical drawing that is used to convey information about an object. A common use is to specify the geometry necessary for the construction of a component and is called a detail drawing. Usually, a number of drawings are necessary to completely specify even a simple component. The drawings are linked together by a master drawing or assembly drawing which gives the drawing numbers of the subsequent detailed components, quantities required, construction materials and possibly 3D images that can be used to locate individual items.
  • Electrical Engineering: Electrical engineering is an engineering discipline concerned with the study, design and application of equipment, devices and systems which use electricity, electronics, and electromagnetism.
  • Project Engineering: Project engineering includes all parts of the design of manufacturing or processing facilities, either new or modifications to and expansions of existing facilities.
  • Plant Maintenance: Plant maintenance is a critical skill that involves ensuring the smooth operation and longevity of industrial equipment and facilities. This skill encompasses various tasks, including preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, and the implementation of maintenance strategies to minimize downtime and enhance productivity.
