Full Job Description
Sr. Director, Project Management (Bank Tech)

We are looking for a passionate, seasoned leader who thrives in the face of ambiguity and complex problem-solving. In this role, you will be a key and trusted partner to a leadership team responsible for the platforms supporting all of Capital One’s banking businesses.

The ideal candidate will have an exceptional track record of building strong business partnerships, demonstrated success in critical thinking and problem solving, experience with complex analysis, and ability to balance critical priorities across a wide range of responsibilities. The Project Manager should have experience in developing executive-ready presentations and telling a compelling story through data.

About the Role:

The Bank Tech Senior Director, Project Manager centers directly on labor strategy, associate experience, and building well-managed, sustainable team practices. You will sit at the intersection of leadership strategy and ground-level execution, ensuring our workforce is aligned, our operational rhythm is healthy, and our teams are built to scale effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Labor Strategy & Workforce Optimization: Partner with leadership to design and refine our long-term labor strategy, ensuring organizational structures, capacity planning, and talent deployment match our strategic priorities.

  • Associate Experience & Culture: Serve as the chief advocate for the employee journey. Design rituals, feedback loops, and governance frameworks that elevate engagement, retention, and team alignment.

  • Operational Excellence & "Well-Managed" Practices: Establish robust operational rhythms, management standards, and meeting structures across teams to eliminate friction, sharpen decision-making, and ensure accountability.

  • Strategic Alignment: Act as a trusted sounding board and trusted advisor to executive leadership, translating high-level business goals into scalable operational guidelines.

  • Executive Advisor & Cross-Functional Catalyst: Serve as a primary advisor to senior tech leaders—framing high-stakes proposals and translating strategic vision into action—while partnering closely with key functions (Finance, HR, Labor) to align technology priorities directly with broader business outcomes.

Basic Qualifications

  • At least 11 years of experience in Project Management, Process Management, or Program Management

  • At least 9 years of people management experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience leading cross functional programs in risk

  • 5+ years of experience in strategy development

  • 5+ years of experience in technical business operations

  • 3+ years of experience working in the financial services industry

  • 3+ years of experience partnering with engineering and product teams
