Full Job Description
Position Summary

Neptune is consolidating hardware and software product management under a single senior leader, elevating the product organization from a hardware centered function to an integrated hardware, software, and services solutions and category discipline. This role converts customer needs into a coherent, growth driving portfolio strategy and builds the prescriptive Voice of Customer model the business needs to prioritize, specify, and sequence what Neptune develops.

The Senior Director leads the Hardware Product Management and Software Product Management tracks, both at Director level, and integrates closely with the Software and Hardware Development teams so the product and engineering rhythm is fast, detailed, and predictable. The mandate is anchored directly to Neptune's three priority growth areas: software and pricing, static acceleration, and services expansion. Internal and external candidates are in scope; the position is best suited to a commercial or business development leader with strong technical fluency.

Key Responsibilities

Software and Pricing

  • Own the software and analytics roadmap, including ENZO anomaly detection, leak detection, NRW analytics, self-service reporting, and meter age alerting. Drive disciplined price capture across hardware and software.

Static Acceleration

  • Own the static mix opportunity and portfolio strategy, with higher ASP versus mechanical through feature and price innovation, and a roadmap aligned to the market transition.

Services Expansion

  • Shape solution and decision support products that allow services to attach and scale, differentiating on customer experience and outcomes alongside Solutions Delivery.

Voice of Customer

  • Architect and operationalize the Voice of Customer model: a structured, prescriptive engine that converts customer, field, channel, and usage signal into prioritized, well specified requirements on a repeatable cadence.

Portfolio Strategy

  • Own a single integrated 24 to 36 month hardware, software, and services roadmap, and arbitrate priorities across the two Director tracks against shared growth and margin targets.

Engineering Integration

  • Serve as the senior commercial counterpart inside the Development organization, maintaining a tight product and engineering operating rhythm that shortens cycle time and improves release predictability.

Pricing and Category

  • Lead portfolio and category strategy, including lifecycle decisions, packaging, configuration, and the product side of discount governance, to protect realized price.

Solutions growth

  • Expand decision support and machine learning enabled capabilities so that software and services outgrow core hardware and lift recurring revenue mix.

Team leadership

  • Develop the product management organization, coaching the two Director level leaders and their teams, raising the talent bar, and building succession depth.

Qualifications and Experience

Commercial and technical

  • A combination of business development or commercial leadership and genuine technical fluency, with command of customer economics and of how products are developed.

Voice of Customer design

  • Demonstrated experience designing or standing up a prescriptive Voice of Customer or requirements model, rather than running a reactive feature function.

Solutions leadership

  • A track record leading high performing, fast paced, growth driven product teams, ideally expanding a hardware centered organization toward an integrated hardware, software, and services focus.

Development partnership

  • A proven operating partnership with engineering and development leadership, and comfort in a detailed, prescriptive product and engineering rhythm.

Domain experience

  • Experience in a B2B utility, water, or industrial setting is preferred, with familiarity in SaaS, machine learning, and decision support product economics.

People leadership.

  • A senior people leader able to elevate two Director level reports and raise standards across the broader team.
