Job Summary:

The Senior Director of Quality will be directly responsible monitoring and improving the quality and reliability of all products in a $500M business unit designing, producing and servicing across the world.  This leader will be responsible for leadership of a team of more than 30 people as well as influencing the priorities and work of hundreds of people. 

They will serve as the primary contact regarding quality and regulatory issues with senior government and customer leaders and lead efforts to resolve any concerns.  This person will determine and implement actions to ensure compliance with additional standards such as airworthiness and EHS.  They will coordinate extensively with Engineering, Product Management, Finance, Sales, Operations, Procurement, Programs, and other groups to drive organizational improvements.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring a safe workplace, including improving safety procedures and culture
  • Ensuring successful certification audits to ISO9001 and AS9100 standards worldwide
  • Understanding and implementing actions to meet ever-changing market certification requirements including airworthiness, REACH/RoHS and environmental sustainability.
  • Management of a 30 person staff consisting of:
    • 3 large site Quality managers
    • Matrix management of 4 additional smaller site Quality leaders
    • Functions including data analytics, incoming and outgoing inspection, environmental qualifications and product dedicated quality engineers
  • The improvement and coordination of QMS systems across the division
  • Driving continuous improvement efforts using Lean principles and root cause analysis.
  • The improvement of the New Product Introduction Process (NPI), particularly design and testing for reliability and environmental qualifications
  • Tracking, analysis, response and reporting critical information throughout the organization including reliability, failure modes, customer satisfaction and detailed financial metrics.
  • RFP/RFQ proposal evaluation, development, and response including Quality and Reliability Plans.
  • Approximately 4-6 trips worldwide per year to visit locations, major customers and trade shows.

Experience Preference:

  • Technical background highly desirable including management of technical and multi-site teams
  • Experience with successfully obtaining or maintaining ISO9001 or equivalent site certifications
  • Experience with measurement/repairing of EO/IR systems or IDCA manufacturing is preferred.
  • Experience working with government and defense agencies including proposals and issue resolution.
  • Data analysis including SAP, MS Excel and PowerBI tools is desirable.

Core Competencies:

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Management of multi-site teams and mentorship of first level managers
  • Ability to represent the organization in difficult situations to senior customer and government leaders
  • Knowledge of MIL-STD-810 and ISO 9001 standards and their application
  • Understanding of product reliability and sparing calculations as well as Statistical Process Control or 6 Sigma principles
  • Familiarity with GTC and ITAR requirements

Job Qualifications:

  • College Diploma in technical or business discipline
  • Experience managing muti-site Quality and/or Service organizations
  • 10 years of experience in the Defense sector

Salary Range:

$188,000.00-$250,700.000

The anticipated salary range listed for this role is only an estimate. Actual compensation for successful candidates is carefully determined based on several factors including, but not limited to, location, local regulations (such as minimum wage), education/training, work experience, key skills, and type of position.
