Position Overview

The Sr. Director of Infrastructure Delivery Services is accountable for the end-to-end delivery, governance, and execution of large infrastructure programs and projects supporting retail, supply chain, and corporate functions. This role ensures infrastructure investments are delivered on time, on budget, and with high operational quality, whilst advancing platform modernization, resiliency, and cost optimization.

This leader combines deep technical infrastructure expertise with strong program governance, portfolio management, vendor leadership, and financial acumen. The role requires an executive-level collaborator who can influence across IT and the business, challenge vendors and partners, and drive delivery excellence at enterprise scale.

A Day in the Life

Infrastructure Delivery & Governance

  • Own the delivery lifecycle for infrastructure programs and projects, ensuring commitments are met for scope, schedule, cost, quality, and risk.


  • Establish and lead infrastructure delivery governance, including operating committees and steering committees.


  • Define and maintain delivery standards, methodologies, and reporting aligned with enterprise PMO and ITIL practices.


  • Develop and maintain executive-level dashboards providing visibility into portfolio health, risks, dependencies, and remediation plans.


  • Act as the final escalation point for complex or critical delivery issues, driving rapid resolution and root cause analysis.


Portfolio, Financial, and Demand Management

  • Partner with IT Portfolio Management to prioritize funding for infrastructure transformation initiatives that reduce technical debt and operational risk.


  • Own infrastructure delivery budget management, including forecasting, tracking, variance management, and billing reconciliation.


  • Oversee demand intake for both project and business-as-usual work, ensuring appropriate resourcing and vendor engagement.


Technology & Architecture Oversight

  • Provide technical leadership and oversight, reviewing and approving infrastructure designs, estimates, and implementation approaches.


  • Ensure solutions align with enterprise architecture, security standards, resiliency requirements, and lifecycle strategies.


  • Drive automation and standardisation across platform provisioning, monitoring, alerting, and lifecycle management.


  • Oversee scalability planning based on performance trends and forecasted demand.


Vendor & Partner Management

  • Lead vendor governance for infrastructure delivery partners, including performance management, SLA adherence, and executive-level engagement.


  • Own vendor relationships across managed services and third-party providers, including contract execution, SOWs, and service quality.


  • Challenge vendors on solution quality, cost models, delivery commitments, and innovation.


Operations Integration & Service Transition

  • Ensure seamless handoff from project delivery to IT Operations, including documentation, support readiness, and operational acceptance.


  • Ensure CMDB, asset management, and ServiceNow processes are followed to maintain accurate infrastructure records.


  • Collaborate with operations teams to improve availability, performance, disaster recovery, and service resiliency.


Leadership & Talent

  • Build, lead, and develop a high-performing infrastructure delivery organization, fostering accountability, technical excellence, and continuous improvement.


  • Ensure effective people management practices for direct and indirect reports.


  • Serve as a trusted advisor to IT and business leaders, translating business needs into executable infrastructure delivery outcomes.

You'll Come With

Education: BS in Computer Science or Similar Degree

Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).


  • 10+ years of progressive IT experience, with significant leadership experience in infrastructure delivery, operations, or transformation.


  • Proven experience leading complex, multi-vendor infrastructure programs in large enterprise environments.


  • Strong background in infrastructure platforms including networking, cloud, Windows/Linux, storage, backup, endpoint platforms, and monitoring.


  • Demonstrated expertise in vendor performance management, contract negotiation, SLA governance, and executive-level vendor relationships.


  • Experience with financial management, budgeting, forecasting, and investment planning.


  • Strong understanding of ITIL, Agile methodologies, and modern delivery practices.


  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to influence at all organisational levels.


  • Calm, decisive leadership style with the ability to operate effectively during high-impact incidents or crises.


Skills and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated success leading enterprise-scale infrastructure transformation programs at the experienced Director level.


  • Experience supporting 24x7, business-critical environments in retail or similarly complex industries.


  • Proven ability to balance technical requirements, risk, and cost to deliver sustainable solutions.


  • Experience leading global or geographically distributed teams.


  • Prior ownership of End User Services and/or large platform implementations


  • Track record of driving standardization, common services, and operational maturity across infrastructure domains.


  • Knowledge of Network administration skills helpful


  • Knowledge of System Security concepts helpful


  • Knowledge of Oracle/SQL DB administration helpful

Compensation Range: $150,000.00 - $190,000.00
