What You'll Do
As Sr Director (for Total Facility Management (TFM) Operations), you will serve as the senior operational leader responsible for the strategic leadership, service delivery, growth, and continuous improvement of MVLE’s AbilityOne and commercial facility management portfolio. Reporting directly to the Executive Director, this position provides executive leadership for multi-site janitorial, custodial, grounds maintenance, and Total Facility Management (TFM) operations across federal, commercial, and community-based facilities.
You will be responsible for ensuring operational excellence, exceptional customer service, workforce development, quality assurance, regulatory compliance, safety, contract performance, operational readiness, financial stewardship, and business growth. The position collaborates closely with internal and external stakeholders to strengthen customer relationships, improve operational performance, expand employment opportunities, and support MVLE’s long-term strategic objectives.
Your responsibilities will include:
Operations Leadership
- Provide strategic and operational leadership for MVLE’s janitorial, custodial, grounds maintenance, and Total Facility Management operations across multiple customer locations.
- Ensure contract requirements, staffing levels, operational objectives, quality standards, and customer expectations are consistently achieved.
- Lead contract mobilizations, transitions, service expansions, and operational improvement initiatives to ensure seamless service delivery.
Customer & Contract Management
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with customers, contracting officials, community partners, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders through responsive communication and exceptional service delivery.
- Conduct site inspections, operational reviews, customer meetings, performance evaluations, and implement corrective actions to drive continuous improvement.
- Resolve customer concerns proactively while maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction and contract performance.
Business Growth & Strategic Initiatives
- Support business development activities including proposal development, pricing reviews, operational planning, customer presentations, and strategic growth initiatives.
- Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency, leverage technology, standardize best practices, and strengthen organizational performance.
- Collaborate with executive leadership to support contract renewals, expansions, new business opportunities, and long-term organizational growth.
Operational Readiness & Emergency Response
- Serve as the operational lead during emergencies, continuity-of-operations events, staffing shortages, severe weather events, and other critical operational situations.
- Provide direct operational support—including custodial and facility services work when necessary—to ensure uninterrupted service delivery and customer satisfaction.
- Ensure operational readiness through contingency planning, cross-training, and rapid deployment of personnel and resources.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Directly supervises Site Managers, Facility Managers, Supervisors, Team Leads, and other operational personnel. Responsible for hiring, onboarding, coaching, performance management, disciplinary actions, employee engagement, succession planning, and professional development while fostering a culture of accountability, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.
You're a great fit for this role if you have:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred (not required)
- Minimum of ten (10) years of progressively responsible leadership experience in janitorial services, facility management, Total Facility Management (TFM), operations management, workforce development, or related environments.
- Experience leading multi-site operations and geographically dispersed teams.
- Experience managing federal, state, local government, commercial, institutional, or AbilityOne service contracts preferred.
- Experience in staffing, workforce development, quality assurance, safety, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence.
- Experience leading organizational certification, accreditation, or continuous improvement initiatives preferred.
- Ability to obtain and maintain required security clearances as applicable.
- Proven executive leadership and organizational management skills.
- Strong customer relationship management and stakeholder engagement abilities.
- Knowledge of OSHA requirements, safety management systems, quality assurance, risk mitigation, and contract compliance.
- Strong financial, operational, and analytical decision-making skills.
- Ability to lead multiple contracts, locations, priorities, and competing deadlines.
- Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to build high-performing teams and lead organizational change.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, operational reporting systems, and technology solutions that support operational excellence.
- Compensation: $87,000 Per year
