What you'll do:This is a rare chance to build and lead the enterprise Business Systems function at a company reinventing how batteries are made. As Sr. Director, you will own the strategy and architecture for ERP, procurement, PLM, HR, MES, QMS, Contract Management, CRM, and adjacent platforms - and build the team that runs them. You will partner across R&D, manufacturing, supply chain, finance, legal, People and Culture, operations, Training, and engineering to modernize our systems landscape, drive deep systems integration, apply agentic AI to unlock measurable ROI, and design a resilient 24x7 applications support model.
- Own and execute the Business Systems strategy and roadmap across ERP, procurement, PLM, MES, QMS, SuccessFactors, ADP, Workforce, contract management, systems integration, and data platforms.
- Lead cross-functional programs to define requirements, create process blueprints, conduct fit-gap, design solutions, and deliver high-impact releases.
- Deliver enterprise-grade capabilities across SAP S/4HANA, SAP BTP, Ariba, PLM, MES, QMS, ADP, TAM, and SuccessFactors, with strong support for R&D, Operations, manufacturing, supply chain, SG&A and business operations.
- Drive end-to-end systems integration using modern architectures and agentic AI automation to increase process intelligence, reduce cycle times, and unlock measurable ROI.
- Build the Business Systems team to be future-ready, including internal staff and partner ecosystems.
- Establish disciplined process engineering, SDLC, documentation, KPIs, quality gates, and automated system controls.
- Lead integration frameworks across ERP, PLM, MES, Metrology, QMS, procurement, HR, legal, and data analytics.
- Ensure compliance with SOX and TISAX, embedding ITGC, automated controls, segregation of duties, and secure integrations.
- Co-develop with IT Infrastructure and Engineering a resilient 24x7 global support model covering on-site, remote, and off-site operations.
- Mentor and coach managers and team members, fostering a culture of ownership, compassion, passion, and urgency.
- Communicate effectively with executives, senior managers, vendors, partners, engineers, operators, technical and non-technical audiences.
- Manage vendor and partner relationships, optimizing performance, cost, and strategic alignment.
- Apply cybersecurity principles across identities, entitlements, access patterns, integrations, and vendor ecosystems.
Skills you'll need: - BS or MS in computer science or Information Systems
- 15+ years in enterprise Business Systems or ERP leadership, including 10+ years leading large cross-functional teams.
- Strong process engineering and facilitation skills are essential, including blueprinting and complex cross-functional program leadership.
- Deep and recent hands-on experience with SAP S/4HANA, SAP Ariba, PLM, MES, QMS, SuccessFactors, and related manufacturing and R&D systems.
- Experience implementing and governing contract management and supplier collaboration systems.
- Proven history leading through ambiguity and delivering clarity and results.
- Strong communication skills across all organizational levels.
- Experience building or rebuilding Business Systems teams and scaling operational models.
- Regulatory compliance expertise including SOX and TISAX.
- Strong problem solving, critical thinking, and structured analytical approach.
- Cybersecurity mindset across identity, access, integration, and data flows.
- Demonstrated ability to lead on-site, remote, and off-site teams
- Strong, hands-on working knowledge of materials management, inventory management, procurement, supply chain, FP&A and accounting, product costing, manufacturing, MES, BoMs, revenue management, and systems integration.
Nice to have: - Experience in energy storage, automotive, high-tech, or advanced manufacturing.
- Deep systems integration experience between ERP, PLM, MES, QMS, HR, procurement, and data platforms.
- Hands-on experience using agentic AI for workflow automation, insights, decision support, or systems orchestration.
- Exposure to MES, shop-floor execution, digital quality systems, and engineering change processes.
- Strong vendor management, contract negotiation, and partner governance skills.

ONSITE: This position is required to work onsite 5 days per week to meet the minimum essential duties and requirements of this position. As an on-site R&D and manufacturing operations organization, in-person face to face interaction is essential to building authentic relationships, trust, teamwork, and collaboration.
Compensation & Benefits: Expected salary range for this role is from $226,900 to $317,700, and a final salary will be determined by the candidate's experience and educational background. QuantumScape also offers an annual bonus and a generous RSU/Equity package as part of its compensation plan.
