Summary

Provides strategic direction, technical expertise and operational leadership to the engineering organization. Drives innovation, ensures quality and compliance, and partners with other functional leaders to deliver both custom and standard solutions ensuring designs are cost-effective and manufacturable to meet customer requirements.

Job Duties/Responsibilities
  • Defines and executes the strategic direction of the engineering and new product development initiatives in alignment with the company's overall strategy and growth initiatives.
  • As a member of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT), collaborates with other functional leaders to develop and meet organizational goals while providing expertise and guidance on projects, operations, and systems.
  • Ensures that departmental decisions such as staffing, development, organization, and hardware acquisitions align with the business plan and vision.
  • Develops and mentors direct and indirect reports, specifically to build a pipeline of future engineering leaders.
  • Champions continuous improvement in engineering practices, tools, technologies and product enhancements.
  • Ensures engineering schedules, budgets and quality targets are met or exceeded. Track and report KPIs related to quality, cost and customer satisfaction.
  • Prepare monthly President's report, quarterly presentations and AOP plan.
  • Keeps up to date on new developments in the field of engineering or product design and maintains current, up-to-date compliance.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Requirements

  • Excellent time management, prioritization, and planning skills.
  • Extensive knowledge of engineering principles and procedures, along with knowledge of best practices including steel design, structural analysis and applicable codes/standards.
  • Innovative thinking and continuous improvement mindset.
  • Occasional travel up to 10%.
  • Physical Requirements include: Twisting, turning, grasping, reaching, kneeling, crawling, pulling, extended periods of standing, ability to lift 25 pounds. Constantly operates a computer and other office equipment (copier/printer). Specific vision abilities required include close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Must be able to remain in a stationary position at least 50% of the time.
