Description

This role provides end-to-end oversight of the underwriting and credit activities for a designated business segment within the Commercial Equipment Finance group, ensuring timely decisioning and consistent application of underwriting standards. The position is accountable for evaluating and approving complex transactions, guiding deal structuring, and upholding credit standards and risk governance across the assigned area of responsibility.


The role may also function as a team lead in the future, contributing to talent development, mentorship, and the overall growth of underwriting capabilities.


Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluate and approve transactions within assigned credit authority, including structuring and risk assessment of complex financing opportunities
  • Provide guidance on transactions requiring escalation, including clear articulation of risks, mitigants, and approval considerations
  • Partner with business leaders to assess opportunities, advise on risk appetite, and support sound investment decisions
  • Analyze financial performance, key ratios, and transaction structures (e.g., debt service coverage, loan-to-value) to inform credit decisions
  • Prepare and/or review comprehensive credit memoranda, ensuring clarity, quality, and completeness of analysis
  • Ensure consistent application of underwriting standards, policies, and documentation requirements across transactions
  • Oversee workflow coordination and prioritization to support efficient underwriting processes and timely decision-making
  • Collaborate on strategic initiatives, including new products, portfolio strategies, process improvements, and risk governance enhancements
  • Contribute to portfolio monitoring and reporting, ensuring accurate and timely assessment of credit performance and risk ratings
  • Contribute to workforce planning and operating model discussions to support business growth and evolving portfolio needs

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree required; concentration in Finance, Accounting, or related field preferred
  • 15+ years of relevant experience in credit underwriting, financial analysis, or related disciplines
  • Demonstrated credit authority and experience evaluating complex transactions
  • Strong financial statement analysis skills and ability to assess risk across a range of structures and industries
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present to senior stakeholders
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word; experience with financial analysis tools preferred
