We currently have an opening in our Hilliard, OH Facility for a Senior Design Engineer.
Senior Design Engineer Responsibilities- Lead project teams in the product development process
- Design/engineer components & assemblies in 3D Solidworks CAD system to meet all functional & structural product requirements including manufacturability & assembly
- Perform tolerance stacks and structural analysis as required to ensure designs meet requirements (Experience or knowledge of FEA (finite element analysis) preferred)
- Prepare component & assembly detail drawings for release to supply base for fabrication
- Develop parts lists/BOMs
- Support prototype and production builds with hands-on support
- Provide technical support to engineering, validation, purchasing, quality and production departments
- Lead activities to perform root cause analysis of product and part issues
- Support company technical initiatives (e.g. - ISO compliance)
- Mentor less experienced engineers on design techniques and best practices
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline required.
- Self-starter with 5-10 years of design engineering/product development experience in a solid-modeling-based CAD system (SolidWorks preferred)
- Experience leading a project or team in a product development environment
- Practical knowledge of GD&T (geometric dimension & tolerance), DFM (design for
manufacturability) and DFA (design for assembly)
- Mechanically inclined, technically savvy and possess the ability to multi-task in a demanding, timeline-driven position
- Experience and/or knowledge of the following manufacturing processes (in order of preference):
- Cast aluminum part design
- Injection molding and/or die casting
- Sheet metal fabrication and/or stamping
- Machining & turning
- Painting & plating of metal & plastic components
- Knowledge and use of SolidWorks surfacing preferred
- Experience or knowledge of FEA (finite element analysis) preferred
- Experience with SolidWorks large and advanced assemblies preferred
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Powerpoint, etc.) on a Windows based OS
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Strong mechanical/hand tool skills desired.
Additional Requirements:- Ability to regularly lift and move up to 25lbs. and occasionally up to 50lbs.
