The specialist will collaborate with our customers and partners on key engagements. You will develop and deliver proof-of-concept projects, technical workshops, and support implementation projects in order to develop or migrate Applications from on-premise databases like Oracle/SQL*Server to AWS eg. AWS RDS, Aurora-PostgreSQL/MySQL or other Open Source platforms. You will focus on customer solutions such as high volume OLTP/OLAP environments, designing and deploying future state petabyte-scale data services and building and/or designing reference configurations to enable our customers and influence AWS RDS, Aurora, DynamoDB and other NoSQL databases adoption.
Key job responsibilities
- Provide Enterprise customers with deep technical expertise to advance AWS Database Services adoption across their operations, from enterprise database management systems to long term data strategy.
- Collaborate with AWS specialist, sales, marketing, and product teams to develop innovative solutions for customer's most challenging business problems
- Serve as a trusted technical advisor to executives, helping them navigate cloud transformation and digital innovation
- Lead architectural reviews and workshops focused on solving customer's business cases.
- Champion industry best practices through AWS blogs, white-papers, and reference architectures.
- Present at key industry events including AWS re:Invent and AWS Summits.
- Educate customers on AWS's value proposition for database workloads, ensuring solutions are optimized for production environments
- Provide feedback to AWS product teams on industry-specific requirements and act as primary point of contact for urgent customer issues in your technical specialty.
- Stay current with emerging trends to help customers innovate and maintain competitive advantage
A day in the life
A Database Specialist primary responsibility is to meet with customers, discover their challenges and business outcomes and help them in their journey into the cloud. Within the Database domain, this includes Database sizing/pricing TCO assessments, migration or modernization deep dives and ultimately migration/modernization and operational strategies.
The Database specialist will collaborate with the broader account team on prioritization and engagement strategies that best fit customer priorities.
When the Database Specialist is not engaging customers, they are expected to build/drive thought leadership through speaking events, workshop building and driving feature enhancements with our service teams.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 8+ years of specific technology domain areas (e.g. software development, cloud computing, systems engineering, infrastructure, security, networking, data & analytics) experience
- 3+ years of design, implementation, or consulting in applications and infrastructures experience
- Deep knowledge and experience on at least one commercial relational database (Oracle, SQL Server, IBM2), or open source database (PostgreSQL, MySQL, MariaDB).
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years of infrastructure architecture, database architecture and networking experience
- Experience working with end user or developer communities
- 10+ years of IT development or implementation/consulting in the software or Internet industries experience
- Experience in technology/software sales, pre-sales, or consulting
- Expertise with Open Source database technologies such as PostgreSQL and NoSQL databases like ElastiCache and DynamoDB.
The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
