ABOUT THIS POSITION

The Sr. Data Scientist Role provides will work with Waystar Product, Technical Teams and the Data Science Teams to define, develop and deploy meaningful predictive analytics and data driven strategies to drive value within the Waystar platform. The Senior Data Scientist will not only actively define and develop predictive tools but will provide leadership and skill development in tools and processes within the Data Science.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Works closely with Product Management and Operational teams to design, experiment, and deploy predictive and data driven models and functions to drive core value from our product platform.
  • Works closely with Product and Data Engineering teams to gather, understand and process data utilized within our product platforms and from outside sources.
  • Apply Machine Learning to real-world Healthcare problems that provide material opportunity to improve outcomes.
  • Works with Product Management, Marketing, and Sales as needed to promote sales and growth and address customer feedback.
  • Apply proven standardized process to define, develop, deploy, monitor and maintain models and strategies within the organization
  • Translate and communicate Machine Learning to the organization that addresses business metrics and outcomes
  • Manage workload and expectations with minimal direct oversight
  • Provide process and skill development leadership to other team members
  • Work collaboratively with Data Science team that allows for the entire team to increase quality and quantity of team output
  • Organize, plan and execute on large multi-model and multi month projects


WHAT YOU'LL NEED

  • Bachelor's degree in mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, Computer Science or other relevant area is required
  • 5+ years of Data Scientist experience in teams that work directly with core product enablement
  • Deep familiarity with various statistical and machine learning techniques, including: classification, regression, dimension reduction, clustering, and various multivariate methods
  • Proven experience developing junior data scientists in technical, process and real-world aspects of applying of machine learning to real problems
  • Complete familiarity with approaches to estimate performance of machine learning models
  • Track record of working in growing and/or implementing automated MLOps platforms
  • Proven track record in attribute generation and utilizing reusable attribute stores
  • Bonus Points
  • Advanced degree in a STEM area or Business field preferred
  • Knowledge of Healthcare Revenue Cycle Operations and Data Flows preferred, specifically claims, payer payments, and patient interactions
  • Snowflake / Snowpark experience
