Overview

Biomedical research increasingly requires the application of data science methods. This data scientist will become a member of the Research Informatics and Data Science team and will work on a variety of research projects that inform and improve care. They will work with very large scale (national) health data resources as well as local and regional data.

Responsibilities

  • The data scientist understands factors influencing the source data used for research
  • Demonstrated knowledge of machine learning algorithms and frameworks for building predictive models
  • Contribute to scientific manuscripts
  • Preferred experience with cloud platforms like AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure for scalable data processing and storage solutions
  • Demonstrated proficiency with big or complex data and systems used to manage large data sets
  • Demonstrated understanding of statistics
  • Demonstrated proficiency in programming languages such as R for data manipulation, analysis, and visualization.
  • Strong consultative skills - begins by listening to the stakeholder and validating that their work is aligned with the CMH faculty sponsor goals.
  • Demonstrated ability to clean, transform, and prepare data for analysis
  • Ability and willingness to manage multiple concurrent projects.


Qualifications

  • Ph.D. and 1-2 years experience in healthcare data and/or data science related roles.
  • Master's Degree and 3-5 years experience in healthcare data and/or data science related roles.
  • Bachelor's Degree and 5-7 years experience in healthcare data and/or data science related roles.
  • Strong experience with R preferred. Strong Python experience will be considered.

Starting Pay

Our pay ranges are market competitive. The pay range for this job begins at $48.12/hr, but your offer will be determined based on your education and experience.

Remote Work/Work from Home

This is an intermittent remote position, which means that the person hired will work with his or her manager to determine a schedule that includes both at home and on-site hours at a Children's Mercy location. The incumbent must live in the Kansas City metro area.
