This senior expert will architect, oversee, and validate all technical aspects of migrating large-scale, multi-format data-including ELSUR/FISA holdings-from multiple legacy environments into a unified, secure, modern data platform.

This role plays a central part in ensuring accuracy, integrity, accessibility, and secure handling of historical mission data. The Senior IT SME will lead strategies that modernize legacy systems, preserve high-value information, and guarantee seamless interoperability within new cloud-enabled environments supporting long-term mission success.

Your future duties and responsibilities:

• Ensure the successful migration of all data, metadata, and user-applied markings, preserving historical integrity and operational relevance.
• Oversee the accurate, secure, and seamless transfer of structured, unstructured, audio, text, and multi-format datasets into new cloud-aligned environments.
• Validate accessibility, searchability, and correct rendering of migrated data in the new system's UI, APIs, and analytic components.
• Architect and refine ETL pipelines, data ingestion workflows, transformation logic, and metadata handling standards.
• Engineer and evaluate database systems that support high-volume mission data, complex metadata structures, lineage tracking, and compliance requirements.
• Lead risk identification, mitigation, and quality assurance related to data integrity, security, and migration performance.
• Collaborate with system owners, mission stakeholders, and cross-functional engineering teams to ensure operational readiness and mission alignment.
• Provide technical oversight, documentation, and validation required for Transition-In, Technical Approach, RTM, and CVM deliverables.

• Expertise designing and operating ETL pipelines, ingestion frameworks, transformation logic, and multi-tier data architectures.
• Deep knowledge of data lineage, metadata propagation, marking preservation, and secure data-handling workflows.

Desired:
• Experience migrating sensitive, multi-format datasets in high-security operational environments.
• Familiarity with cloud-based analytics platforms and managed database services.
• Background in modernizing or refactoring legacy mission systems.
