Full Job Description
Leidos is seeking a Data Architect to support CDC Division of HIV Prevention (DHP) data modernization, governance, interoperability, and analytics initiatives. This role provides technical leadership for enterprise data architecture, data integration, metadata management, and modernization activities supporting surveillance, research, program monitoring, and reporting environments. The successful candidate will help guide the incremental modernization of legacy analytical assets while maintaining operational continuity and validated reporting outputs.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Lead enterprise data architecture and modernization activities supporting DHP data management and analytics programs.
  • Design data models, integration patterns, metadata structures, lineage approaches, and information flows.
  • Support architecture and integration activities across EDAV, 1CDP, Databricks, Azure, SQL, and related environments.
  • Conduct inventory, dependency analysis, and modernization assessments for legacy analytical assets.
  • Develop technical roadmaps supporting phased migration of SAS-based workflows to CDC-approved platforms.
  • Collaborate with Governance, Quality, Interoperability, and Operations Leads to ensure alignment across modernization activities.
  • Develop architecture standards, technical documentation, and implementation guidance.
  • Participate in technical reviews, modernization planning, and stakeholder working groups.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Health Informatics, Public Health Informatics, or related discipline.
  • 10+ years of experience in data architecture, data engineering, analytics, or modernization initiatives.
  • Experience designing enterprise data models, metadata structures, and integration architectures.
  • Strong SQL and data modeling skills.
  • Experience supporting cloud-based analytics or data management environments.
  • Strong analytical, documentation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to obtain/maintain a Public Trust Security Clearance.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience supporting CDC, HHS, or other public health agencies.
  • Experience supporting surveillance, research, healthcare, laboratory, or public health data systems.
  • Experience with EDAV (Databricks, Azure Data Factory, Delta Lake, R Studio, PowerBI, Tableau), 1CDP (Palantir Foundry), Azure SQL, Azure DevOps, or similar platforms.
  • Experience supporting migration from SAS to other analytics solutions (e.g., R, Python, Databricks, Palantir Foundry).
  • Experience with data governance, metadata management, lineage, and stewardship practices.
  • Experience supporting incremental modernization, dual-run validation, and operational continuity strategies.
  • Preferred Certifications: Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Azure Data Engineer Associate, Databricks Data Engineer Professional, and/or Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect Expert (AZ-305).
  • Master's degree preferred.

Pay Range $107,900.00 - $195,050.00
