About the RoleThe Sr Cost Accountant oversees the cost accounting activities and delivers analysis of product, process, and operational costs. This position ensures the accuracy of costing methodologies, inventory valuation, variance analysis, and financial reporting. The role also collaborates closely with operations, the finance systems team, supply chain, and executive leadership to drive improvements in profitability and operational efficiency across manufacturing facilities, distribution centers, and contract manufacturing partners.
This is a hybrid role based in Northridge, CA.
Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.
- Optimize and maintain the standard costing system for manufacturing sites, distribution centers (DCs), and contract manufacturing.
- Analyze bills of materials (BOMs), routings, labor rates, burden rates, and production yields to ensure accurate product costing.
- Conduct LBM (Labor, Burden, Material) analysis, comparing actual vs. standard costs.
- Prepare LBM estimates for new product introductions (NPIs).
- Develop and maintain cost models and process changes.
- Serve as the primary contact for Material Setup or Change (MSC) activities.
- Oversee cost of goods produced (COGP) and cost of goods sold (COGS) reporting, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Support/Participate in detailed variance analysis on material usage, labor efficiency, and overhead absorption, providing actionable insights to operations and leadership.
- Perform annual cost roll-ups, ensuring correct allocation of material, labor, and burden rates across manufacturing sites, DCs, and contract manufacturers.
- Support ERP and other implementation system initiatives.
- Collaborate with SAP functional consultants and IT teams to configure and optimize cost accounting processes.
- Support data migration activities, including cost centers, profit centers, BOMs, routings, and standard costs.
- Assist with system integration testing.
- Support KPI reporting accuracy for financial and operational metrics.
- Maintain compliance with GAAP, internal controls, and audit requirements.
Required Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or related field required and 4+ years of relevant experience
- Or, an advanced degree with 2+ years of relevant experience
Preferred Qualifications- Strong experience in cost accounting within a manufacturing environment.
- Proven experience with standard costing, cost roll processes, and variance analysis.
- Experience working with ERP systems (e.g., SAP CP, S4 Hana) and financial reporting tools.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate data into actionable business insights.
- Demonstrated ability to partner with cross-functional teams (e.g., Operations, Supply Chain) and influence decision-making.
- Solid understanding of internal controls, financial compliance, and data integrity principles.
- Effective communication skills with the ability to present financial information to various levels of the organization.

Benefits & CompensationMiniMed offers a competitive salary and flexible benefits packageSalary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$87,000.00 - $149,000.00
For roles located in California, Seattle WA, Washington DC, Boston MA, and New York City, the salary range is $97,000 - $165,000 USD.
Actual compensation may vary based on factors including experience, education, certifications, skills, market conditions, internal equity, and geographic location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Short Term Incentive (STI).
