Are you passionate about providing legal advice to indoor LEGO® play attractions?

Join the Legal, Compliance and Risk team and play an important role in protecting the LEGO® brand and products for builders of the future!

Core Responsibilities

As part of the Legal, Compliance and Risk Management department (LCR), you will provide legal services to the LEGO Group across areas of Corporate and Commercial law, in particular related to the LEGO branded venues and attractions operated by the LEGO Group in the US and Canada.
  • You will be providing legal advice as well as performing contract work and promoting the LEGO Group's compliance agenda.
  • You will work directly with business partners as well as internal colleagues within LCR. In some cases, you will serve as the main point of contact on matters for business partners, and in others you will support colleagues within LCR. Hence, you will be building strong and effective working relationships and networks with key internal partners within LCR and the business.

The core areas of focus will include:
  • Consumer Protection: Advise on compliance with regulations and procedures to ensure the highest standards of consumer safety and protection are maintained.
  • Day-to-day legal support to the attractions: Support legal matters related to the operation of the LEGO branded venues and attractions operated by the LEGO Group in the US and Canada, ensuring all activities meet applicable legal requirements.
  • Marketing Laws: Counsel on compliance with marketing regulations, including advertising, promotions, and communication strategies, with an emphasis on lawful engagement practices.
  • Privacy Laws: Advise on data privacy matters to safeguard customer information and company operations.
  • Commercial and Procurement Contracts: Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of commercial and procurement agreements.
  • General Legal Advice: Provide comprehensive legal guidance on a range of issues as they arise to ensure the company's activities are conducted according to applicable laws.

The Senior Corporate Counsel position is part of the Americas Legal, Compliance, and Risk management team, which is the regional legal team covering all of North and South America, with lawyers in various locations, including Boston, Mexico City, Monterrey and Richmond, in a variety of legal positions.

This role focuses specifically on legal matters related to our global portfolio of LEGO® branded venues and attractions operated by the LEGO Group and involves frequent collaboration with other legal colleagues and business teams. The nature of providing legal support to the operation of attractions such as the LEGO branded venues and attractions demands quick decision-making and rapid assessments, so agility is important. Strong partnering skills are also essential, as you will work directly with various business teams.

The position reports the Senior Legal Director, Legal Americas, who oversees all legal support for commercial matters in the America's market group.

  • Admission to bar of an appropriate jurisdiction
  • Proven legal experience from an in-house role at a global company or mid-level private practice position
  • Significant and broad experience with commercial and corporate law matters, including but not limited to contracts, marketing, regulatory, intellectual property, antitrust/competition law, data privacy and compliance matters
  • Experience negotiating a broad range of contracts including commercial and supply agreements.
  • Great written and verbal communicator with strong legal drafting skills
  • Highly collaborative, with a curious mentality and a "can do" approach
  • Ability to understand and learn the core business ambitions and strategies to be able to provide relevant legal advice and services
  • Strategically-and commercially-minded with a true partnering approach
  • Successful at embedding new processes into existing ways of working

Compensation
The salary for this position has a range of $134,750.00 - $202,126.00 based on anticipated responsibilities, market benchmarks, and organizational constraints. The LEGO Group carefully considers a wide range of compensation factors, including but not limited to prior experience, skills, expertise, location, internal equity, and other considerations permitted by law. The comprehensive remuneration details, inclusive of benefits, will be communicated upon finalisation of the employment offer.
