Job Summary
The Sr. Coordinator, Homeless Count will support the planning, coordination, and execution of the Greater Los Angeles Homeless Count and related count activities, including the unsheltered Point-in-Time Count, Youth Count, Shelter Count/Housing Inventory Count, and demographic survey. This position will serve as a senior-level community relations and project coordination role, helping connect internal teams, external partners, consultants, vendors, community stakeholders, cities, county departments, advisory groups, and volunteer networks that contribute to the successful completion of the Homeless Count.
The Sr. Coordinator, Homeless Count will support cross-functional project management across the full Homeless Count cycle by helping monitor deliverables, track timelines, coordinate engagement efforts, identify operational needs, and ensure key stakeholders remain informed and aligned. This position will work closely with the Manager, Homeless Count, and may step in to support meetings, coordination efforts, and project workflows when needed. This position requires the ability to lead complex workstreams, facilitate collaboration across departments, support higher-level stakeholder engagement, and contribute to the successful planning and completion of one of LAHSA's most visible annual initiatives.

Essential Job Functions
  • Support the Manager, Homeless Count in the planning, coordination, execution, and closeout of the Greater Los Angeles Homeless Count and related count activities.
  • Serve as a senior project coordinator for Homeless Count workstreams, helping track timelines, deliverables, dependencies, risks, follow-up items, and progress across internal and external teams.
  • In conjunction with the Manager, Homeless Count, help coordinate project management functions across the unsheltered Point-in-Time Count, Youth Count, Shelter Count/Housing Inventory Count, demographic survey, volunteer recruitment, deployment site planning, outreach coordination, and post-count activities.
  • Lead or support cross-departmental collaboration with LAHSA teams involved in Homeless Count planning, including Data Analytics, Government Affairs, Communications, Information Technology, Contracts and Procurement, Finance, Programs, and other relevant departments.
  • Coordinate engagement with Homeless Count-related advisory boards, committees, working groups, community meetings, and partner convenings.
  • Help prepare, facilitate, and follow up on meetings with cities, county departments, elected offices, service providers, community-based organizations, faith-based organizations, neighborhood councils, and other stakeholders involved in Homeless Count planning and implementation.
  • Support the development and maintenance of tools to manage Homeless Count processes, trackers, timelines, meeting agendas, notes, decision logs, follow-up systems, and reporting materials.
  • Monitor assigned Homeless Count workstreams to ensure tasks are progressing, issues are elevated appropriately, and internal and external partners understand deadlines, expectations, and next steps.
  • Help coordinate volunteer recruitment and engagement strategies with local jurisdictions, community partners, service providers, elected offices, and other stakeholders.
  • Support deployment site planning, stakeholder outreach, training coordination, materials preparation, communication workflows, and operational readiness for Count-related activities.
  • Coordinate with consultants, vendors, and contractors supporting Homeless Count activities, including tracking deliverables, scheduling meetings, supporting contract-related coordination, and helping ensure work aligns with project needs.
  • Help identify operational gaps, stakeholder concerns, coordination challenges, and process improvements throughout the Homeless Count cycle.
  • Prepare reports, presentations, talking points, briefing materials, written updates, and other communications for internal leadership, community partners, advisory bodies, and other stakeholders.
  • Support post-Count activities, including documentation of lessons learned, stakeholder follow-up, data collection support, reporting coordination, and preparation for future Count cycles.
  • Assist in the development and refinement of policies, procedures, protocols, guides, templates, and standard operating documents related to Homeless Count planning and implementation.
  • Represent LAHSA in designated public meetings.
  • Exercise sound judgment and discretion when handling sensitive operational information, stakeholder concerns, volunteer matters, and internal planning discussions.
  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned.

Training & Experience
  • Minimum of two (2) years' experience working with homeless populations and community groups.
  • In-depth knowledge of homeless populations, systems and programs.
  • In-depth knowledge of project management.
  • Any combination of extensive and applicable work experience and educational credentials to perform the above duties successfully.

Schedule: The Chief Executive Officer or designee may change the schedule of positions between hybrid and onsite, as necessary to accomplish LAHSA's business needs.
Additional Information: LAHSA has adopted a hybrid telework policy requiring employees to work onsite at our Los Angeles office a minimum of two (2) days per week. Applicants must be able to meet this onsite requirement, with or without a reasonable accommodation.

Pension Plan
LAHSA provides a 401A pension plan through Lincoln Financial. After 6 months of employment, employees are eligible for contributions of 6% of the employee's salary with a qualification date of 500 hours or 6 months after the date of hire.

Deferred Compensation Plan
LAHSA provides a 457 Deferred Compensation plan through Lincoln Financial. Employees may elect to defer up to IRS maximum limit per year of their earned salary for income tax purposes.

Time Off Administrative Leave
Chief Executive Officer, chiefs, and directors receive five (5) days of admin leave each calendar year in addition to the time-off below.

Vacation
Vacation is earned according to each month of service commencing with the employee's initial date of hire.
  • Less than three (3) years of employment, eighty (80) hours per year.
  • Three (3) to six (6) years of employment, one hundred twenty (120) hours per year.
  • More than six (6) years of employment, the one hundred twenty (120) hour total shall be supplemented by one (1) workday of paid leave for each twelve (12) months greater than seventy-two (72) months of employment. This vacation accrual is capped at thirty (30) workdays per year
Maximum accrual of vacation leave is 240 hours.

Sick Leave
Full-time employees accrue sick leave at a rate of 12 days per year. Maximum accrual of sick leave is 160 hours.
