Senior Control Account Manager (CAM)

Job Summary

Leidos is seeking a Sr. Control Account Manager (CAM) to support a high-impact, multi-agency program serving the United States Space Force (USSF)/Space Systems Command (SSC), the United States Air Force (USAF), and other key mission stakeholders. The selected candidate will play an important role on a critical program focused on enhancing, testing, and deploying a large-scale Satellite Communications (SATCOM) system within an existing infrastructure. The ideal candidate will bring strong expertise in public key infrastructure (PKI) and Agile development, along with exceptional problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.

The Senior Control Account Manager (CAM) is responsible for managing assigned control accounts while also providing mentorship and guidance to other CAMs across the program. This role includes oversight of schedule planning and status, performance measurement, actual cost collection, variance analysis, corrective action development, and estimate-at-completion activities in support of Earned Value Management. The Senior CAM ensures the effective integration of technical scope, schedule, and budget across assigned accounts and supports consistent application of CAM best practices throughout the program. This individual is accountable to the Program Manager for overall control account performance and plays a key role in driving program execution, financial discipline, and performance visibility.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership, mentorship, and guidance to CAMs across the program to ensure consistent and successful control account management across Control Accounts (CAs).
  • Manage the financial performance of assigned Control Accounts, including budget oversight, funding execution, and overall cost control.
  • Serve as an active member of the PMO Scrum Team, supporting program execution within an Agile environment.
  • Partner closely with Agile teams responsible for delivering work within assigned control accounts to ensure alignment with program priorities, scope, and performance objectives.
  • Ensure the effective integration and application of Agile and Earned Value Management (EVM) principles across work efforts.
  • Maintain accurate and current Estimates to Complete (ETCs) for all work within assigned control accounts.
  • Prepare and deliver monthly Variance Reports (VR) for each control account during every accounting cycle.
  • Participate in the program's monthly business rhythm, including financial, schedule, and performance reviews.
  • Coordinate customer authorization for in-scope activities that require formal approval prior to execution.
  • Respond to customer requests related to assigned control accounts in a timely manner.
  • Serve as the primary non-technical POC for customer matters related to assigned control accounts.
  • Participate in technical discussions, meetings, and reviews, as needed, to maintain situational awareness of control account scope, schedule, risk, and performance.
  • Support staffing activities to help ensure assigned control accounts are appropriately resourced to meet program requirements.
  • Manage procurement actions within assigned control accounts, including equipment and material purchases.
  • Ensure expenditures for labor, materials, and other direct cost (ODCs) remain within authorized funding and budget constraints.
  • Review Weekly Hours Reports to verify that labor charging is accurate and aligned with the appropriate control account.
  • Approve funding for subcontractors supporting control account requirements and review subcontractor timecards , as appropriate.
  • Support the development of responses to RFIs, RFPs, or Rough Order of Magnitude (ROM) requests associated with program efforts.


Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field and 15 years of prior related experience. Additional experience may be substituted for a Degree.
  • At least five (5) years of experience supporting large-scale software development and hardware integration programs.
  • At least five (5) years of experience in technical project or program management.
  • At least two (2) years of experience working within an Agile environment or program.
  • Must have strong verbal and written communications skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to adopting and adhering to best practices.
  • Proven ability to plan, organize, and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver high-quality work independently and collaboratively in a fast-moving environment.
  • Clearance Required: Must have TS/SCI with Polygraph.


Preferred Qualifications
  • PMP strongly preferred, or becoming PMP certified within 6 months of starting.
  • SAFe Agilist certification (or equivalent).
  • Extensive work experience as a CAM on a large, complex, software development program.
  • Extensive work experience with cost accounting and Earned Value Management (EVMS) on a large, complex, software development program.
