What You Can Expect In This Role

Lead complex audit engagements, providing expert guidance to team members and contributing to the development of innovative audit methodologies. Responsible for providing independent and objective assurance over the company's financial, operational and compliance controls, while also contributing to consulting and advisory.
What You'll Do In This Role
• Lead and manage all phases of highly complex audit engagements, from planning and execution to reporting and follow-up, ensuring adherence to professional standards and methodologies.
• Develop and oversee the execution of audit programs, risk assessments and testing procedures tailored to specific engagement objectives.
• Lead and participate in recurring regulatory activities, including Model Audit Rule (MAR) testing, internal control assessments and financial control reviews, with a strong understanding of relevant industry regulations such as National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) model laws and state insurance regulations.
• Provide expert guidance, coaching and mentorship to team members on audit techniques, methodologies and best practices.
• Contribute to development and implementation of department-wide initiatives and strategic projects.
• Analyze complex data sets using various tools and techniques to identify trends, anomalies and potential risks; present findings and recommendations to senior management.
• Evaluate the design and effectiveness of internal controls, recommending improvements to mitigate risks and enhance operational efficiency.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders at all levels to understand processes, identify areas for improvement and provide value-added recommendations.
• Contribute to consulting and advisory projects, providing expert insights and recommendations on risk management, process optimization and other business initiatives.
• Present audit findings and recommendations to senior management and the audit committee, effectively communicating complex information and influencing decision-making.
• Stay abreast of emerging trends, regulations and best practices in internal audit, risk management and the insurance industry.
• Proactively identify and assess the impact of emerging technologies and data analytics on audit processes and business operations, and develop innovative audit solutions.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders at all levels, fostering a collaborative and trusted advisor relationship.
• Actively participate in team meetings, training sessions and professional development activities, contributing to the team's knowledge sharing initiatives and strategic planning.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Management Information Systems or related field Preferred
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in internal audit, risk consulting, financial auditing, internal controls, public accounting or business analysis Preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex audit engagements and provide mentorship to junior team members
  • Deep understanding of internal control frameworks and audit methodologies
  • Superior analytical, problem-solving and critical thinking skills applied towards processes and systems
  • Excellent communication, both written and verbal, and interpersonal skills, including presentation, facilitation and negotiation skills
  • Strong knowledge of common insurance industry systems, internal controls, policies, procedures, regulations and laws
  • Considerable skill in planning and project management, and in maintaining composure under pressure while meeting multiple deadlines
  • Proven ability to negotiate issues and resolve problems with the ability to resolve disagreements and conflict in a manner that builds relationships
  • Considerable experience with business process risk and control design, implementation and assessment
  • Demonstrate thoughtful and innovative approaches to addressing challenges and opportunities, while exemplifying courage to speak up and empowerment to drive change within the workplace
  • High level of initiative and ability to work independently
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (i.e Excel, Word and PowerPoint) and advanced experience with data analysis tools
  • Certified Internal Auditor, Certified Public Accountant, Certified Information Systems Auditor or other relevant designation Preferred
  • Some travel to other office locations required.

Salary Range Information

USD $68,462.00 - USD $128,365.00 /Yr. Range includes data points from multiple labor markets. Specific range is dependent on the labor market where the incumbent will be hired to perform the position. Starting salary is dependent on candidate qualifications and experience. For a narrower salary range specific to your labor market, please inquire.
