Full Job Description
Primary responsibility is completions engineering/operational support for Permian and South Texas activity. The engineer will coordinate with asset teams, field teams, and vendors to support the completion of wells while aligning with business objectives and seeking continuous improvement. The scope of the position includes: generating procedures, costs estimates, AFE's and execution of all completions, recompletions, coiled tubing mill-outs/clean-outs, and snubbing operations. Will mentor less experienced engineers on fundamentals and project support, expected to be a leader on the team.

Essential Roles & Responsibilities
  • Identify critical needs and requirements to develop specific well completion designs and alternatives for consideration Analysis of historical company and industry completion designs are crucial in providing recommendations
  • Work with reservoir engineers in the development of completion design and procedures
  • Communicate completion plans to the Asset/Management team
  • Identify hazards, best practices, evaluate new technology, and incorporate sound engineering practices for the design and construction of all new well completions and recompletions
  • Provide AFE cost estimates for completions
  • Provide engineering support for well completion operations to ensure safety, quality and costs control
  • Work effectively with equipment contractors and suppliers (including bidding of cost for services)
  • Support Business Development and Reservoir engineering in the preparation of scoping cost estimates for acquisitions and the budget and planning processes
  • Develop strong relationships with field/operations personnel. Field visits required
  • On call support, including nights and weekends may be required
  • Conduct business with the highest ethical standards; demonstrate decision-making skills that ensure the safety of all persons associated with SM operations
  • Other duties as assigned

Computer/Software Applications

Proficient level of skill in Microsoft Office. Experience with Wellview is a plus. Familiar with industry software for modeling and data analysis. Technical skills that allow easy adaptation to company specific software and other necessary related applications (Spotfire, FracPro).

Role-Specific Technical Knowledge & Skills

Proficient understanding of unconventional resource plays in regards to completion design and execution. Proficient technical knowledge and operational experience required in horizontal well completions engineering. Proficient technical knowledge and operational experience with coiled tubing operations in horizontal wells.

BS degree in Engineering is required
