Overview

Kimley-Horn is seeking an entrepreneurial Senior Project Manager to grow our Mechanical Electrical and Plumbing (MEP) Commissioning practice in the Chicagoland area. This is a high-impact leadership role for someone who thrives at the intersection of client service, business development, technical excellence, and team leadership.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships, positioning our firm as a trusted partner in the industry.
  • Drive business development efforts, leveraging industry connections to secure new opportunities, and expand market presence.
  • Supervise and lead complex MEP Cx projects, providing technical expertise and strategic oversight.
  • Ensuring quality and timeliness of deliverables.
  • Lead and mentor a high-performing team, fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented work environment.
  • Ensure project profitability, resource allocation, and seamless transitions of work to qualified staff.
  • Uphold integrity and sound business principles, driving operational excellence and long-term success.
  • Proactively coordinate resource needs to successfully complete and deliver the scope of work
  • Coordinate and manage the assignment of project tasks to be performed by other Cx team members.
  • Perform project kick-off meetings involving all project team members and clearly communicate the project objectives, scope, schedule and budget
  • Highly effective with leading a Commissioning project team through onsite construction reviews, systems testing, issue capture and problem resolution.
  • Develop Functional Performance test scripts based on the specific design sequences of operation for mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Organize and execute functional performance testing of mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Develop Commissioning plans and specifications.
  • Attend meetings as required in the contract to successfully execute the scope of work and communicate effectively with key stakeholders.
  • Execute and oversee commissioning assignments that include in office and on-site activities.
  • Manage commissioning activities on a consistent basis to help ensure efficient completion of the scope of work and compliance of project contract requirements.
  • Achieve project profitability goals through careful management of client expectations and execution of the contracted scope, schedule and budget.
  • Perform QA and QC processes by qualified personnel to successfully complete the project deliverables.
  • Notify the client of changes in project scope, prepare estimates for additional fees, issue work authorization to client and obtain client approval prior to performing any additional services
  • Actively seek out additional opportunities for the firm to provide other professional services.
  • Effectively and consistently perform Go/No Go analyses on new opportunities.Write proposals and developthe appropriatedocumentation in response to RFQs,RFPsand other requests for information fromcurrent andprospective clients.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have experience managing project teams and clients in an engineering consulting environment, specifically within Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) projects.

  • 8-20 years of Project Management experience in MEP Commissioning
  • Accredited engineering degree or equivalent experience required
  • Possess comprehensive knowledge of commissioning practices within the employee27s own discipline. Maintains a basic knowledge of other disciplines.
  • Highly effective and professional communicator with strong written, oral, listening, and presentation skills. Proactively coordinates both technical and non-technical issues with the internal project team members, client and project stakeholders.
  • Manages work independently and delegates and utilizes other staff and productive partners effectively
  • Demonstrates excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Completes assignments with high quality and in a timely fashion.
  • Effectively prioritizes and manages multiple responsibilities concurrently.
  • Brings a positive mindset and strong work ethic to the workplace and at job sites. Is flexible and adaptable in dynamic situations.
  • Demonstrates strong leadership and teamwork skills.

Salary Range:

Base Salary $120,000-$180,000 annually.Eligible for Performance Based Bonus Compensation.
