Full Job Description
Position Summary

A Sr Commissioning Project Manager is responsible for the overall management, supervision and in some cases execution of assigned building system commissioning projects. Execution is expected to be completed within established budgets and time frames. The Sr Commissioning Project Manager manages a program or projects, coordinates site visits, attends meetings and communicates with clients and sub-contractors ensuring project success. They train employees, generate schedules and determine staffing requirements for assigned projects.

Essential Job Functions & Accountabilities

Project/Program Management
  • Oversee and coordinate all aspects of projects
  • Follow company project management standards, expectations, and quality metrics
  • Direct project commissioning and schedules
  • Coordinate and maintain commissioning deliverables and project related documents
  • Manage client service and communication
  • Develop and manage proposals and contracts
  • Create, monitor and adhere to budgets and financials
  • Accountable for overall project/program performance
  • Contribute to efforts to improve performance and ensure consistent adherence to applicable quality standards

Commissioning Execution
  • Lead and direct others in the commissioning process, including owner's representatives, general contractors, and design team members
  • Serve as a third-party commissioning representative responsible for project success for the client/end user
  • Interface with design teams to assist in meeting the established projects goals
  • Execute building commissioning and retro-commissioning tasks on projects

Leadership & Employee Engagement
  • Mentor, coach and supervise junior project managers, commissioning agents, technicians and project/program team members
  • Make recommendations to practice, operations and technical leadership to align training, development, and mentoring of staff
  • Recognize and resolve project conflicts, balancing the interests of internal and external stakeholders

Client Experience
  • Serve as a brand ambassador and primary project/program contact
  • Maintain regular communication with clients to ensure satisfaction with the project process and engineering work product
  • Partner with sector and practice leadership to support business development strategies within their practice or sector
  • Resolve project-related conflict and respond to client requests and questions

Quality
  • Monitor project quality expectations
  • Ensure project deliverables meet project objectives and quality expectations
  • Develop scope of work and fees to mitigate risk throughout the project life cycle

Required Education, Experience, Licenses & Technical Competencies
  • Degree in architectural, electrical, mechanical, industrial or construction engineering/management required. Years of relevant experience will be considered in lieu of requisite education.
  • 8 years of experience in MEPF engineering, commissioning or TAB required; 12 years required without degree
  • Strong proficiency in project management standards and execution required
  • In-depth understanding of building design and construction principles for successful commissioning project execution required
  • Industry specific certifications preferred (ASHRAE, ACG and/or NEBB)
  • Self-starter with the ability to influence and motivate others to achieve goals
  • Effective collaboration, communication and organization skills

  • Prolonged periods of sitting or standing at a desk and working on a computer
  • Ability to read, write and communicate in English
