Summary

We are seeking an accomplished and detail-oriented Senior Commercial Underwriter to join our team. This role is responsible for evaluating and underwriting complex commercial credit requests, conducting in-depth financial statement analysis, and ensuring sound credit decisions. The ideal candidate will also play a key role in managing team workflow, while providing training, mentorship, and constructive feedback to junior analysts. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, along with extensive experience in commercial loan review and accounting-based financial analysis, are essential for success in this position.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct financial analysis and underwriting of complex commercial credits, including commercial real estate and commercial & industrial loans.
  • Perform financial statement spreads, complex global cash flow analysis, collateral analysis, and guarantor analysis.
  • Concisely summarize credit strengths and weaknesses.
  • Manage the workflow of the underwriting team to ensure efficiency and accuracy.
  • Provide training, mentorship, and management to junior analysts, offering constructive feedback and guidance.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure comprehensive credit evaluations and risk assessments.
  • Protect all client and bank information confidentially and follow all company policies.
  • Understand, communicate, and instill the Company's mission, vision, and values (Pillars of Success).
  • Complete monthly training in a timely manner to ensure knowledge of bank regulatory requirements, policies, and procedures.
  • Working at the worksite during regular business hours and/or assigned hours.
  • Other specified duties as assigned.

  • Advanced knowledge of financial analysis software and tools (preferred).

Education & Experience

  • 7-10 years of experience in financial statement analysis, commercial loan review, accounting financial analysis, or similar work experience.
  • Proven experience with financial analysis of commercial loans exceeding $1 million.
  • Undergraduate degree in accounting, finance, real estate, business administration, or a related field.


Physical Requirements (section to be completed by HR)

The work environment is typical of a standard office or retail banking setting. The position is sedentary, involving sitting most of the workday; however, the position will involve moving about the workspace to reach entrances/exits, restrooms, conference rooms, or other areas within the work environment. Reaching may be required involving the ability to move arms in any direction. Office equipment, such as a computer and telephone, will be used requiring the ability to manipulate a keyboard, mouse, and/or keypad. The ability to decipher a computer screen or written documents is necessary. The ability to express or exchange ideas; impart information to clients, coworkers, or the public; or to convey detailed or important instructions; is required. The ability to receive and understand detailed information shared through oral or written communication is required.
