Description WHAT YOU WILL DO The Sr. Commercial UCC Operations Associate is responsible for executing and monitoring Uniform Commercial Code (UCC) lien filing, monitoring, and due diligence activities to help ensure collateral perfection, lien priority, and compliance across the commercial credit portfolio. This role applies specialized knowledge of lien operations and secured lending processes to research filing discrepancies, identify lien perfection or collateral risks, and support credit, legal, and commercial risk teams with accurate lien management and risk-related reporting.
HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT UCC Filings and Lien Management
- Prepare, review, and process UCC financing statements, including UCC-1 filings, amendments, continuations, assignments, and terminations across applicable jurisdictions.
- Ensure lien documentation is complete, accurate, and filed timely to support collateral perfection and lien priority for secured transactions.
- Track continuation deadlines, filing requirements, and related follow-up items to help prevent lapses in lien perfection.
- Review weekly lender filings on HCA borrowers and identify potential impacts to existing lien positions or collateral coverage.
- Partner with credit, underwriting, and legal teams to support lien-related activities for new originations, renewals, restructures, and other secured lending transactions.
- Coordinate with Legal and credit teams on PMSI-related agreements and document recommended follow-up actions.
- Maintain accurate dealer and borrower lien-related information in Salesforce and other applicable systems.
Portfolio Monitoring and Risk Support
- Monitor existing UCC filings for expirations, amendments, entity changes, compliance issues, and other lien-related events.
- Research filing statuses, exceptions, and discrepancies; coordinate resolution with internal teams, third-party vendors, or filing jurisdictions as needed.
- Support credit risk management by identifying and reporting lien perfection gaps, competing lien activity, collateral risks, or documentation inconsistencies.
- Assist with audits, internal reviews, regulatory inquiries, and compliance-related processes by providing lien documentation and status updates.
- Manage entity name changes, status changes, and related lien record updates to help maintain accurate and enforceable filings.
UCC Search and Due Diligence
- Conduct UCC, tax lien, judgment, bankruptcy, and related public record searches to support commercial credit and legal review processes.
- Review and summarize search results for credit, legal, and commercial risk teams, including potential issues requiring follow-up.
- Evaluate debtor information, collateral descriptions, legal entity structure, and jurisdictional filing requirements for accuracy and completeness.
- Identify competing liens, priority risks, filing deficiencies, or other documentation issues that may impact collateral perfection or enforceability.
Reporting, Projects, and High-Risk Dealer Support
- Support the Commercial Risk Manager with ad hoc reporting, portfolio reviews, special projects, workouts, and high-risk dealer action plans.
- Compile lien-related data, status updates, and exception reporting to support management review and decision-making.
- Track follow-up actions related to lien exceptions, collateral concerns, or risk mitigation activities.
Process Improvement and Commercial Credit Initiatives
- Contribute to commercial credit and lien operations initiatives by identifying opportunities to improve workflows, reporting, documentation accuracy, and process efficiency.
- Support the development of process updates, job aids, or recommendations that strengthen lien management controls and operational consistency.
Qualifications WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO THE ROLE - Minimum 4-6 years related experience in UCC filings, lien operations, secured lending, or commercial credit.
- Bachelor's degree in Business or related field preferred or equivalent related work experience.
- Working knowledge of UCC filings, lien perfection, lien priority, continuation requirements, and secured lending documentation.
- Ability to review and interpret UCC search results, public record filings, legal entity information, collateral descriptions, and lien-related documentation.
- Ability to identify filing discrepancies, competing liens, lien perfection gaps, collateral risks, and documentation issues requiring follow-up or escalation.
- Proficiency with lien/vendor platforms, such as CSC, and Microsoft Excel or other reporting tools used to track filing activity, exceptions, and portfolio status.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy when preparing, reviewing, tracking, and maintaining lien-related records and documentation.
- Ability to manage high-volume, deadline-driven workflows while prioritizing filings, continuations, exceptions, and follow-up activities.
- Effective research, problem-solving, and follow-up skills to support resolution of filing issues, documentation inconsistencies, and lien-related exceptions.
- Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with credit, legal, underwriting, operations, third-party vendors, and filing jurisdictions.
- Ability to maintain organized records, support audit or compliance requests, and provide accurate lien status updates and reporting.
